A Government Agency Making Farmers’ Lives Miserable – Besides the EPA, We Mean

The Green is, As Always,
for Money

Government has two roles. Pretend to make the lives of Americans better – while actually making them worse. The first is a necessary facade – to allow them to execute the second.

Is this crass and cynical? Yes, it is. But it is also accurate. Here’s some more crass accuracy.

Government is like any other organism. Its primary priorities are self-preservation – and expansion. So it constantly shouts about the (highly dubious) necessity of its existence – and its growth. All of which comes at the expense of the private sector.

God bless the private sector. It managed for a century-plus to continue to make our lives better – despite ever-increasing government. For the last three to four decades, freedom and government have fought to a virtual standoff. Which is largely why wages have stagnated – and economic growth has slowed to a crawl.

All the while, government – at all levels – continued and continues to grow. More

Coming Soon: Internet at the Speed of Government

No, We Do Not

When government “helps” run something – that something is terrible. The bigger a hand government has in running it – the more terrible it is. If it is exclusively government-run – the terrible-ness is ingrained and inherent. And the longer government runs the show – the worse the terrible-ness becomes.

But one example: The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is full-on government medicine – and has been since 1930. A government-only monopoly. And its delivery…is terrible – when it isn’t non-existent.

Untold numbers of veterans are dying waiting for care. We don’t know how many – because government is placing tens of thousands of veterans on secret waiting lists. And government is leaving completely of these lists tens of thousands more.

And there is zero accountability. After this abomination was identified in 2014 – the government actually kept growing the wait lists. No one – NO ONE – has been fired.

Executed in the face of this top-to-bottom terrible-ness was the #1 DC defense – “We aren’t spending enough money.” As is nigh always the case – that is another DC lie.

In 2002, President George W. Bush declared a War on Terror – and the VA budget (in current coin) was $53.5 billion. In 2012, President Obama had mostly ended our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – and the VA budget was $125.3 billion. A roughly 250% increase over ten years. More

There’s Already a Process for Bad Patents, So Let’s Not Destroy All Patents

Let’s Not…

There are some people who simply, bizarrely do not like intellectual property.

Some are full-blown Leftists – who do not like private property at all. (But don’t you dare try to take for the Collective the smart phone on which they’re Tweeting their disdain for private property.)

Others are to varying degrees small “L” libertarian. Who somehow bizarrely delineate between physical property (which they’ll protect) and intellectual property (which they won’t). Who would have arrested a thief leaving Tower Records with an armful of CDs – but who is even as I type downloading-without-paying that exact same music.

We are in the 21st Century surrounded by and immersed in the wonderments of a (dwindling-ly, less-and-less) free market economy – largely made possible by the protection of intellectual property. Without it – we would be literally nowhere.

Were Steve Jobs unable to legally safeguard his magic iPhone, not only would there not currently be Iteration 6S – there would never have been an Iteration 1. Because Jobs wasn’t an idiot. More

Shocker: The Media as One Cheerlead Another Government Power Grab

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

“Does the media have any questions?”

The American media cabal is…ridiculous. They are the Borg of politics – many entities, but of but one Leftist mind.

Led around by their noses by whatever hack government-growing politician is before them at that moment.

Obama Administration Admits They Lied About Iran Deal, ‘Ventriloquized’ The Media

The (New York) Times reports that (White House National Security Advisor Ben) Rhodes and his lackeys have “become adept at ventriloquizing many (media) people at once”:

The easiest way for the White House to shape the news, he explained, is from the briefing podiums, each of which has its own dedicated press corps. “But then there are sort of these force multipliers,” he said, adding, “We have our compadres, I will reach out to a couple people, and you know I wouldn’t want to name them—”

“I can name them,” I said, ticking off a few names of prominent Washington reporters and columnists who often tweet in sync with White House messaging. More

Net Neutrality Court Ruling: Government Wins, We Lose

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Judges Breaking Things

The Washington, D.C. Circuit Court yesterday delivered a bizarre, antithetical-to-reality 2-1 ruling upholding the Barack Obama Administration’s Internet power grab.

In February 2015, the Administration’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) – unilaterally, without Congress – “reclassified” the Internet. Meaning they would willfully ignore actually-pertinent, most-recent law – and instead pretend law written in 1934 for landline telephones was also intended for an Internet that wouldn’t exist for another half century.

The “technological experts” at the FCC did this by pretending that omni-directional, globe-spanning Internet networks – are no different than our comparatively-uber-simplistic telephone networks.

In the name of “competition, competition, competition,” the FCC slammed the Internet with laws written for a government-mandated monopoly.

But if you regulate the Internet like it’s a monopoly – you will soon end up with a monopoly. And that monopoly – will be the government. See: the Post Office. And the Veterans Administration. And ObamaCare…. More

Google Is Rigging Searches For Hillary Clinton

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Big Mother

This is huge news – but it is hardly surprising.

Google – President Barack Obama’s biggest crony in a sea full of armadas full of legions of Obama cronies – has been cozying up to the woman Obama just endorsed to succeed him: Hillary Clinton.

And by “cozying up” – we mean warping their search results to hide Clinton’s decades of scandals and scandalous behavior.

Last year, Wired magazine warned us about the election-manipulating power of Google:

Google’s Search Algorithm Could Steal the Presidency: “‘We estimate, based on win margins in national elections around the world,’ says Robert Epstein, a psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology and one of the study’s authors, ‘that Google could determine the outcome of upwards of 25 percent of all national elections.’”

So the goods on Google delivered by SourceFed and their host/writer Matt Lieberman – are devastatingly awful. As chronicled in their recently released stand-up video with visual aides. We will lean heavily on excerpted transcripts therefrom – because what they’ve done is so beautiful and terrible. Here we go: More

Peter Thiel Should Learn a Broader Litigation Lesson from his Gawker Lawsuit

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Lawsuit Lesson Learned?

Silicon Valley entrepreneur Peter Thiel is a pretty smart guy. As partial evidence, I give you his self-made net worth of $2.7 billion. He co-founded online payment mega-company PayPal – which was in 2002 sold to eBay for $1.5 billion. Anyone who saw the very good flick “The Social Network” knows Thiel was one of the first outside investors in Facebook. He still owns a chunk, and is on their Board. He invested in LinkedIn. He’s…done well.

Thiel obviously has a knack for knowing what is worth his money, time and effort. So it was noteworthy when he officially acknowledged that he helped fund professional wrestler Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against the online publication Gawker (Gawker had amongst other things posted a Hogan sex tape.) Hogan was awarded $140 million for Gawker’s invasion of his privacy.

Why did Thiel fund Hogan? Because nine years ago, Gawker invaded Thiel’s privacy – with a story headlined “Peter Thiel is Totally Gay, People.” Thiel said Gawker followed up with similarly invasionary stories on several of his friends (and others) – which Thiel said “ruined people’s lives for no reason.”

So Thiel “funded a team of lawyers to find and help ‘victims’ of the company’s coverage mount cases against Gawker.” Which begat Hogan.  Thiel assessed why he stepped up: “I can defend myself. Most of the people they attack are not people in my category. They usually attack less prominent, far less wealthy people that simply can’t defend themselves…It’s less about revenge and more about specific deterrence.” More

The Incompetent, Pathetically Slow Government Has Placed Itself Between You and the Economy

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

More Regulations Dead Ahead

Behold “Mother May I?” government. Where the private sector can’t do a thing, make a move, invent or innovate – until after the incompetent, pathetically slow government finally gets around to granting permission to do so. If we’re lucky – more likely than not, they’ll say Nay.

This is why our economic growth has remained stifled and stunted. President Barack Obama will be the first chief executive in our nation’s history to never, ever have a year of even 3.0% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth. (By contrast, Ronald Reagan – who inherited a far worse economy than did Obama – AVERAGED 3.5% GDP growth.)

The terrible laws passed by President Obama and his Democrat-majority Congress are bad enough. Obamacare has basically outlawed full-time employment. Dodd-Frank didn’t shrink too-big-too-fail banks – it suffocated and shut down thousands of the small banks we all say we want. Leaving us with just the banking monsters with which to deal.

Which is a lesson of too much government – the monster companies are the only ones who can afford it. It’s the little guys who get crushed under the Leviathan’s weight.

The American people found revolting these Democrat laws – and elected first a Republican House and then a Republican Senate to stop them. Did that cause President Obama even to pause? Of course not. His instead became the Unilateral Fiat Administration. More

Government Subsidizes, Government Warps and Distorts – Government Bails Out

The Government Rolls –
They’re Nigh Never-Ending

My favorite joke about government and its inanity goes something like this:

A guy is running late for a meeting. He’s in his car – stuck on a single lane blacktop behind a county government truck. He can’t pass – it’s a double yellow line.

Every fifty yards the county truck stops and two guys jump out of the back. Right beside the road, one guy digs a hole – and the other fills it back up. Then back into the truck they go. Fifty yards later, same thing. Lather, rinse, repeat.

After about the sixth time, the guy stuck behind the truck is steaming. He checks to see if it’s clear to pass the truck – and it is. So he whips around and up to beside the truck’s driver.

“What the heck are you guys doing?” he asks, infuriated. More
