Open Borders and Free Trade Absolutists Are Doing Serious Damage to Our Country

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Yet Another Detrimental Outcome

There are many similarities between the open borders radicals – who want zero impositions placed upon anyone emigrating anywhere – and doctrinaire free trade absolutists.

When it comes to the general betterment of America, both miss a fundamental point: We are a nation with an economy – not an economy with a nation. These two groups focus solely on the economy – and remain steadfastly oblivious to the sometimes very negative effects their economic policies inflict on our country.

Importing nigh unlimited numbers of Third World, mostly uneducated, mostly unskilled people may make our produce and poultry cheaper – but that is but a tiny portion of the picture.

Adding millions of mostly uninsured, mostly non-paying partakers of our health care system – eviscerates the system. And costs us hundreds of billions of dollars per year.

These millions of immigrants have millions of children – which eviscerates our government school system. And (especially with English language assistance classes added to the tally) costs us hundreds of billions per annum more. More

Another Day, Another DC Crony Lobbying for Continued Protectionism

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Just Another DC Day

It’s a day with a “Y” in it (check not your calendar – I’ve already checked mine). Which means in many places throughout $4-trillion-per-year Washington, D.C., there are recipients of massive cronyism – looking to keep their gravy trains a-rolling.

They’d ordinarily take for granted that the cronyism would continue – and be looking to accelerate their respective locomotives. But the election of President Donald Trump offers We the Victims the first glimmer of hope in decades that a diminishment of this business-as-usual – may finally be in the offing.

Most of the time, this rent-seeking is done in the privacy of Congressional offices and secluded corners of very expensive bars and restaurants. But sometimes, the behest-ing is brazen – and done in public.

Like, say, at Congressional hearings. As will happen today – when the House Ways and Means convenes to discuss direly needed tax reform.

Our tax code is a disaster. A nightmare mess of thicketed code complexity – and ridiculously high rates. And it is filled to the rafters with asinine anti-incentives to economic activity and productivity. More

We Need to Finally Delineate Between Fake ‘Free’ Trade – and Really Stupid Trade

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Stupid Trade in Our Time – And All the Time

Donald Trump remains largely misunderstood – and dare I say it, underestimated – in many areas that matter on the national and world stages.

For someone allegedly having no real plan and being so allegedly incompetent – he is certainly, rapidly accomplishing a great deal of exactly the plan on which he ran for president.

Trump ran on deregulation.  He has as President signed thirteen Congressional Review Act Resolutions of Disapproval (thank you also to Congress for passing them) – undoing a whole host of major Barack Obama Administration regulatory power grabs.  He has set his appointees to work to swiftly roll back the massive red tape emanating from their respective agencies.  Many are already well under way towards so doing.

Trump ran on actually enforcing – and thus closing – the gaping maw that has for decades been our southern border.  While Congressional Democrats threaten to shut down the government in opposition to Trump’s border wall – Trump has efficiently gone about enforcing existing law with existing resources.  And has already greatly reduced illegal border crossings.

Then there is Trump on trade.  Far too many people dismissed Trump as anti-free trade.  Those people are really quite wrong.  What these people have for half a century been touting as “free trade” isn’t free trade – it is one-sided, anti-U.S. stupid trade: More

Hey Leftists: Racists Threats and Stalking Homes and Families Is NOT Thoughtful Policy Debate

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Yet Another Leftist Thoughtful Policy Assertion

Leftism is a bereft ideology.  It is a certain set of ideas and government policies – all of which are horrendous when put into actual practice.  It pretends human nature – isn’t human nature.  And tries to reshape it – and the humans it imbues – with the fires and on the anvils of government.

Much of the world spent most of the Twentieth Century trying out Leftism.  It didn’t work – at all.  Not only that, one hundred million people were murdered in the attempt.  Because human nature – is human nature.  And the humans wouldn’t take to the Left’s governmental reshaping.  So these poor humans split and shattered – over, and over, and over again.

Yet we still today have to debate the cataclysmic deficiencies of Leftism.  And still have to fight an uphill battle to prevent its implementation.  What a colossal failing that is of our species.

President Donald Trump became President Donald Trump – in large part because We the People had watched nearly a century of ridiculous, awful, wasteful, uber-failed government expansion.  And had had enough.

Washington, D.C. has become a $4-trillion-per-year massive Fail.  A cronyism-infested, anti-productive Swamp.  Leftism – incarnate.  And We the People want less – of all of it.  Less government, less cronyism, less DC – less Leftism.  Time to Drain the Swamp. More

Will the Weak, Wobbly GOP Ever Show Any Spine – Anywhere? On Anything?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Republicans Everywhere
Needs a Massive Protein Infusion

The late, inordinately great Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister of Great Britain (the last time Britain was Great) – and a towering historical figure.  She possessed the spinal strength of ten Mr. Olympias.  When once conversing with…lesser fortitude-possessing United States Republican President George H.W. Bush, Thatcher famously uttered “Remember George, this is no time to go wobbly.”

The Republican Party has a long and storied history – of being weak and wobbly.  Thatcher favorite Ronald Reagan was the exception – a cavalcade of others the rule.

In fact, used often is the term RINO – Republican In Name Only.  To describe non-conservative, weak-and-wobbly Republicans.  I would argue the opposite is true.  Ronald Reagan was the RINO – the steel-spined uber-minority in the vast-majority-feeble GOP.

We’ve just emerged from eight years of the utterly corrupt, constantly lying, law-violating and national security breaching Democrat Barack Obama Administration.  About all of which Republicans did…almost exactly nothing.  Lots of hearings and press releases – nothing of substance.

Republicans were led out of the Obama wilderness – by now-President Donald Trump.  Against whom they fought – ten times as hard as they ever did against Obama.  And now that Trump is in office – and doing lots of really great less government things – the GOP is doing next to nothing to back him. Mexico: Bad Trade Deals Are Even Worse – When Nations Violate Them

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let’s Cut Some Less Government Deals –
And Then Adhere to Them

The “anti-free trade” label is these days blithely thrown around a lot.  Mostly at President Donald Trump – and people who agree with him and his desire to revamp how we’ve long done trade.

Mostly by people who blithely accept getting royally ripped off in the one-sided “free” trade deals we’ve long been cutting.

We objectors actually very much like actual free trade.  Where each party treats all other parties equally – with less government and justice for all.  However, in very few instances are those the types of trade deals to which we’ve agreed.

We get our government out of the way of other nations’ products.  While allowing other nations to tax and other wise impede our products.  We (mostly) keep the government out of our internal production for export.  While other nations subsidize the daylight out of theirs – which obviously affords them a gross, distorted advantage on the world market.

Allowing any of this at all was stupid.  Allowing all of this repeatedly, serially for decades – was titanically so.  What it wasn’t – was free trade. More

Oh Look – Senator ‘Fauxcahontas’ Warren Is Lying. Again

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Her Lips Are Moving

If you are of the ideological Left, there is just about nothing you can do that will remove you from DC’s Elite Society and the Media’s good graces.

Bill Clinton credibly accused of rape?  No problem.  Hillary Clinton gives Russia 20% of our nation’s uranium in exchange for contributions to the family money laundering outfit – oops, I mean charitable Foundation?  No problem.  Bill Ayers being an FBI-designated domestic terrorist?  No problem – there’s a tenured college professorship awaiting you.  The examples are just about endless.

Then there are the lies.  Oh so many lies.  And no matter how many times Leftists are caught bald-faced – they get to move on.  And the very next thing they say – is treated as if it possesses the moral authority and inherent credibility of someone who…well, hadn’t just been caught lying their face off.

Bill Clinton lied under oath – which in part led to his having to give up his law license.  Hillary Clinton lied about sniper fire in Bosnia.  And being named after Sir Edmund Hillary.  And repeatedly about her private-bathroom State Department email server.  Barack Obama said we could under his Obamacare keep our doctors and our insurance plans.  A lie parroted by myriad other Democrats. Comedians Find Intellectual Property Theft No Joking Matter

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Rogan Doesn’t Look Amused

The comedy world – like much of the entertainment world – is rife with people of the Left ideological persuasion.  There are, of course, exceptions – but on the main they are on the Left.

But then there is Robert Conquest’s Three Laws of Politics.  The first of which is: “Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.”  A law proven eminently true – when comedians steal jokes from other comedians.  Instantaneously, these Leftist laugh artists – become stalwart conservative champions of intellectual property (IP) rights.

What Does Conan O’Brien’s Court Fight Over Jokes Mean For The Wider World Of Comedy?: “Freelance joke writer Robert “Alex” Kaseberg has brought a suit against the writers of Conan (and the man himself), claiming that they stole five jokes from him in 2014-2015 (including one in very poor taste of Caitlyn Jenner’s transition). U.S. District Court Judge Janis Sammartino accepted that there was a possible case surrounding only three of the jokes….

“Even if this suit doesn’t end up going to trial, the taint of even alleged joke stealing can be a real black mark on a comedian. In his deposition, O’Brien said ‘Accusing a comedian of stealing a joke is the worst thing you can accuse them of, in my opinion, short of murder. I think it’s absolutely terrible.’ Clearly this is not something that the late night host is taking lightly. However, anytime an established comedian is profiting off of the work of a less well known entity is cause for concern.” More

The Left: A History of Violence and Racism – Net Neutrality ‘Comments’ Edition

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Another Peaceful Left Assemblage

Godfather of Communism Karl Marx counseled: “Accuse others of what you do.”  More than a century’s worth of Marx-Communist disciples – have rigorously adhered to this tenet.

Communism has…a bit of a history-of-violence problem.  It spent the 20th Century – murdering roughly 100 million people.

The American Left really hasn’t held up its end of the bargain on the body count – but that doesn’t mean their past isn’t rife with murder, violence and mayhem.  See: The Ku Klux Klan, the Weathermen/Weather Underground and the Black Panthers – to name but a few.

But throughout their history of violence – the American Left has consistently and very successfully pinned the “Barbarity” label – on the Right.  Accusing others of what they do.

Heck, they’ve even successfully ascribed to the Right the Democrat Party-born Klan – which spent so much of its time murdering blacks and the Republicans who helped them.

Flash forward to the modern era – nothing has changed.  The Tea Party was accused of being a racist, violent response to Barack Obama – America’s first black president.  Except the Tea Party actually got its start protesting mass illegal immigrant amnesty and then massive bank bailouts – which were policies put forward by white Republican President George W. Bush.  And the only violence that ever took place at Tea Party rallies – was initiated by Leftists. More

A Tax Cut – Should Not Include a Stupid, Economy-Debilitating Tax Increase

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

It’s the Long Conversation
We’ve Long Needed to Have

President Donald Trump and the Republican Congress have both put forward tax reform plans that contain lots and lots of really great ideas.  They both simplify the code, eliminate some taxes, reduce the rates of others – and in general are geared to allow for vigor to return to our long vigor-less economy.

The fundamental element behind vigor in our economy – is coin.  The crucial component of capitalism – is capital.  And the ugly truth for Leftists is – only people that earn money have money.  And the people that earn more money – have more money.  The rich – have even more than that.

So you need all of these people – most especially the rich – to privately dispose of their capital.  Not have the government take it from them.  So as to fuel capitalism – and allow the reinvigoration to begin.

Capitalism works – in large part because of Adam Smith’s “Invisible Hand.”  Capitalism coin never stays put – it’s always on the go.  The Invisible Hand moves that money – all over the place.

To wit: A rich person buying a yacht – does more for a poor person than a thousand government programs.  Because – who sells the yachts to rich people?  Poorer people.  Who drives the yachts to the lots to be sold?  More, even poorer people.  And who builds the yachts to be driven to the lots to be sold to rich people?  Lots and lots of additional poor people.  And then there are the crews to sail the yachts, the repair crews to fix them, the harbor crews to harbor them,….

How do we know this?  Because in 1991 the Feds imposed a “luxury tax” on expensive cars, furs, jewelry…and boats.  Democrat Senators Ted Kennedy (Massachusetts) and George Mitchell (Maine) in particular crowed about the rich finally paying their fair share.  Except: More
