Reasonable, Rational, Lawful AGs Stage an Intervention for NY’s Radical Schneiderman

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

No One Expects the AG Intervention

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has led a years-long Don Quixote-esque political persecution of ExxonMobil.  An ongoing, rolling abuse of his power as the Empire State’s chief lawyer – and a gross dereliction of that office’s actual duties.

Schneiderman is engaged in all of this ideological obnoxiousness – because he believes in the myth that is global warming…oops, I mean climate change.  Or, more likely, he believes – and revels – in the very real massive increase in government that goes along with the implementation of the belief in the myth of climate change.

Schneiderman claims he is going after Exxon – for knowing climate change is real, and hiding that information from the public.  Which almost assuredly isn’t true – since, you know, climate change isn’t true.  And even if it is and they did – it isn’t actually, you know, a crime.

Schneiderman may believe that Exxon possesses evidence that unicorns are real.  This we do not know.  What we do know is that Schneiderman is going after Exxon for giving money to climate change realist non-profit organizations (full disclosure: our Less Government has never been one of them).  Which not only isn’t a crime – it’s a First Amendment-protected freedom-of-speech activity.

And in the grander scheme of things, Schneiderman is going after Exxon – for having the audacity to engage in legal commerce.  Selling their legal product in legal ways on an open, legal market.  (An international market, by the way – so this has nothing to do with the office of one U.S. state’s Attorney General.) ‘Climate Change’: It Was Better When the Media Didn’t Pretend to Be Impartial

Hot Off the Paid-For Presses

One of the greatest of the great many scams to be hatched and nurtured during the radical Left revolution of the 1960s – was the notion of “objective journalism.”  The radicals created the concept – to advance Leftism under artificial cover.

Prior, most newspapers and other outlets were openly organs for one Party or faction or another.  That’s why old school newspapers had and have names like “The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.”  Then came the Left’s “journalism” scam.

Walter Cronkite was the CBS Evening News’ anchor for nineteen years – and “The Most Trusted Man in America.”  Except he lied about the Vietnam War’s Tet Offensive.  We won the battle – Cronkite didn’t like the war, so he “reported” we lost.  His fake news almost singlehandedly turned public opinion against the War.

Cronkite fully outed himself when he retired as a “journalist” – and became a news “analyst.”  Where he was free to share his rote, doctrinaire, pedestrian Leftism. And “journalist” after “journalist” for decades has retired just like Cronkite – and revealed themselves just like Cronkite. More

Fighting Liar with Fire: NY Attorney General Schneiderman Gets Successfully Sued

Boom Goes the Pantaloons

New York Democrat Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is the hack-est of hacks.  A Leftist ideologue to the point of derangement – and complete dereliction of his actual duty.

Rather than looking after the legal needs of the residents of the Empire State, Schneiderman has spent much of his time tilting at climate change windmills – embodied mostly by a years-long persecution of oil company ExxonMobil.

Schneiderman has engaged in all of this nonsense as his part in a larger Leftist campaign: “(T)wo Rockefeller family foundations have been involved in an advocacy campaign that accuses ExxonMobil of covering up what it knew about climate change….Rockefeller foundations have funded journalism enterprises that have produced stories that overlap with the advocacy agenda….And this cavalcade of fake news served as the precursor to the New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman-led years-long very real legal persecution of ExxonMobil.  Which is simply the next phase of the Rockefeller Foundation’s calculated assault against ExxonMobil.  For having the audacity to engage in legal commerce – providing our nation a vital resource.”

Want some irony?  This whole anti-Exxon assault is allegedly predicated upon Exxon “covering up what it knew about climate change.”  So how hilarious is it – that Schneiderman is covering up evidence of his part in this larger Leftist campaign?  And that his legal abuse of Exxon – is being undone by a lawsuit?:

“New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is hiding emails showing he is colluding with wealthy environmentalists to take down ExxonMobil, a conservative legal group argued in court Tuesday. More

The Don Quixote Clown Show That Is the New York Attorney General’s Office

Attorney General
Eric Schneiderman de la Mancha

The Donald Trump presidential election and ensuing Era has left the Left plumbing new depths of abject disbelief in Reality.  Their desperation has led them to serially, incessantly chase fake news as if it is actually news – on all of which We the People look in disbelief.

We just yesterday had a day-long House hearing – in which nigh every Democrat asked after a fact-free allegation that there was some sort of coordination between the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin’s Russia.  This has been the Democrat mantra – for going on a year now.  There remains zero evidence of any such collusion.  Yet the Left continues its Don Quixote impression – tilting at yet another windmill.

Who exactly was Don Quixote?: “(A) Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedera…(about) an hidalgo named Mr. Alonso Quixano who reads so many chivalric romances that he loses his sanity and decides to set out to revive chivalry, undo wrongs, and bring justice to the world, under the name Don Quixote de la Mancha….Don Quixote…does not see the world for what it is and prefers to imagine that he is living out a knightly story….”

“Russia hacked the election” – is a Quixote-esque fantasy.  But of course, the Left’s very many Don Quixotes predate by decades the electoral arrival of Trump.  And very few if any have done windmills and delusion better than New York state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Schneiderman has spent the last several years doing what very few people would consider the actual job of the Attorney General of New York – hounding international oil and gas company ExxonMobil.  How Exxon conducting its global business is germane to the chief law enforcement officer of one particular state – is light years beyond me. NY’s Government Assault on Exxon: Coordinated in Advance with Leftist Groups

Lubricated with Lots of Leftist Loot

Remember when the Donald Trump transition team asked the outgoing Barack Obama Energy Department for a list of the staffers working on Obama’s global warming – oops, I mean climate change – alarmist agenda?  And the Left and the media (please pardon the redundancy) absolutely freaked out about them asking?  And the Obama Energy Department refused to comply with the (very reasonable) request?

Team Trump was absolutely on the right track – but, unfortunately, didn’t continue down it.  Trump has so far kept on board hordes of Obama holdovers – and they have been incessantly burning him ever since.

Team Trump was right to ask – because personnel is policy.  Bad, radical personnel – leads to bad, radical policy.  For instance, bad, radical government officials (like, say, those working on bad, radical climate policy) will work with bad, radical outside groups – to end run the rule of law and manifestly harass law-abiding private companies.  For having the temerity to engage in lawful commerce – which this bad, radical gaggle happens to loathe.

How do we know this?  How did Team Trump likely know this?  At least in part because of Trump’s home state of New York – a particularly bad, radical example of just this sort of anti-law, anti-freedom, anti-Reality government. More

Fake News: When Leftist Foundations Fund Activism Posing as Journalism

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Foundations Edition

#FakeNews is currently in the news “big league.”  Thanks to ridiculous Buzzfeed’s ridiculous release of a 35-page Donald Trump disinformation litany (to which we absolutely will not link).  A litany so fake – it was printed under the heading “Disinformation.”  But ridiculous Buzzfeed released it anyway.

This litany had been floating around Washington, D.C. for months – untouched by DC’s alleged journalists.  But DC’s alleged journalists – once Buzzfeed broke the seal – piled in behind them like Japanese subway commuters to further amplify it.

This is by no means the only flavor of fake news that exists.  Another long-standing-though-less-ballyhooed version is when Leftist foundations fund Leftist activists – who generate “news” that the media then mindlessly parrot, without any mention of the mammoth money behind it.  All the while, the media roundly lambastes much tinier right-of-center efforts to tell their story.

For instance: You’ve of course heard of the libertarian Koch brothers – because the media have made sure of it.  The Kochs donate money to groups to advance free markets – and the media goes bananas reporting about it.  But the Koch coin isn’t even close to the real story: More

Shocker: Government Bureaucrats Don’t Understand Business or Economics

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Sadly, Epidemic Upon Epidemic

It is one of the many, many reasons our nation’s Founding Fathers profoundly limited government. They trusted businessmen much more than they trusted government bureaucrats. Because they knew: Those who can – do. Those who can’t – regulate those who can.

The Founders knew the private sector is better, stronger and faster than government. And smarter. And better behaved. And better intended. And….

The Founders only established the federal government. But they understood that these government limitations exist at every level – and thus limitations should be imposed on every level. State and local bureaucrats are just as inferior to private businessman – and should be just as restricted.

But as we all know, since the Founders’ glorious creation governments at all levels have grown exponentially – and continue to grow inexorably. And as governments have achieved their now titanic proportions, they have attracted more and more bureaucrats that are increasingly hostile to the private sector. They don’t know it or understand it – but they don’t like it. And they use all the arms of the giant governments at their disposal as weapons to attack the businesses and businessmen they loathe.

To wit: New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. Who REALLY has it in for petroleum companies. And has spent the last several years placing his oversized government power in the service of environmental radicals – to persecute them:

“(E)nvironmental activists…are now accusing publicly traded oil and gas corporations of hiding the true costs of climate change to their businesses. The effort threatens to change the current focus of financial reporting—which is to provide salient information to investors—and instead serve the policy agenda of liberal activists…. More

Consistency – Thy Name is Left

Environmentalists have long been called “watermelons” – green on the outside, red on the in. Red – as in Communist. Earth Day – also happens to be Soviet Communist Vladimir Lenin’s birthday. A coincidence, surely.

Environmentalism has always been about ending capitalism. Exaggeration?

130 Environmental Groups Call For An End To Capitalism

Not so much. But they’re better-than-average messengers of their terrible message, so they are always looking for variations on their theme. Even if consecutive variations – are completely contradictory. Flash back to the 1970s, and you get this:

The 1970’s Global Cooling Compilation – Looks Much Like Today: “A compilation of news articles on the global cooling scare of the 1970’s.”

Flash back forward – and it is suddenly, magically Global Warming. Which – when the planet stopped warming nearly two decades ago – suddenly, magically became Climate Change. All (totally irreconcilable) variations on a theme. It’s the Greatest Scam on Earth.

The ultimate goal remains the same – to end capitalism. And the fuel of capitalism – is oil. Gut the oil industry – and you undermine the entire capitalist system. And they are always looking for new and inventive ways to do it. To wit: More

Those Who Can – Do. Those Who Can’t – Regulate Those Who Can

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

“May I Help You?”
“NO. No. I’m good.”

It’s how this country became the economic light of the world. Talented people – free to do amazing things. They become fabulously wealthy – and make all our lives better and richer.

Your computer, your phone, your car, your home’s television, heater and air conditioner and millions of other life-bettering things – created by talented people availing themselves of the free market opportunities this nation gave them.

Of course, some people are more talented than others. Not everyone is Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Once upon a time, the less-extraordinarily-brilliant appreciated and admired the best of the best.

But we have spent the last half-century-plus training Americans not to appreciate accomplishment and pursue it themselves – but to envy others’ success, and want society to punish them for having the audacity to excel.

And that’s where government comes in. Populated in far, far too many instances by people steeped not in the pursuit of excellence – but in its persecution.

If these people were actually good at productive work – they would be doing productive work. But they’re not. So they’re professional scolds and busybodies – government bureaucrats lording over those doing productive work.

Those who can – do. Those who can’t – regulate those who can. More

New York’s Chief Partisan Persecutor: Democrat Attorney General Eric Schneiderman

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

In New York, Justice’s Left Eye is Open

If you want justice, equal protection before the law and prosecutorial humility – New York Democrat Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ain’t your guy.

If you want partisan, selective persecution and ideological witch hunts – you can not do any better than AG Schneiderman.

The Clinton Foundation is located on Avenue of the Americas in New York City – the heart of AG Schneiderman’s purview. It is a multi-multi-million-dollar den of corruption. Time after time billion dollar promises have been made – but never kept. In 2013, only 10% of the money the Foundation spent went to, you know, actual charity. They spent more on office supplies. And, of course, rent – palatial offices on Avenue of the Americas ain’t cheap.

All the while, the Foundation was a global, nigh-limitless cash withdrawal system – taking hundreds of millions of dollars from governments with business before then-United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

It is a chief reason why Mrs. Clinton never used her government email address and its monitored, recorded system – so no one could track the confluence of State Department and Clinton Foundation action.

Is AG Schneiderman at all interested in looking into any of this? Of course not. Because Hillary Clinton is a fellow Democrat. And she’s now the Party’s presidential nominee. Can’t foul that up with enforcement of the law. Ask James Comey. More
