Thank You, Mister President: Trump Saves the Internet of Everything from China

China’s Invisible Hand
Ain’t So Great –
and Ain’t So Invisible

There was underway a highly disquieting hostile Tech Sector takeover.

Corporate wrecking ball Broadcom – the Singapore king of breaking big companies into little sellable pieces – was looking to unpleasantly acquire United States innovation company Qualcomm.

Qualcomm is the chief reason why We the People are the global leaders on all things wireless – cellular networks, cell phones and all the attending amazingness.

To cite but one of countless examples, it was a woman Qualcomm engineer who invented the way cell phones can connect to the Internet. (In a personal geek moment – I got to meet her. Very cool.)

This was a quantum moment. Think of the hundreds of billions of dollars of economic activity that one invention alone unleashed.

Qualcomm has spent the last two decades – and tens of billions of dollars – creating all sorts of amazing things like this. Thereby leading the charge towards the next monster revolution – Fifth Generation (5G) wireless: More

So Many Needless Deaths

Someone get me the environmentalists. I have something on which we can work…together.

To the fainting couches….

Ok. Imagine if you will all the forests that must fall – to feed the government and their countless printed extrusions.

Government spends $4 trillion per annum. That’s a lot of printed currency. And an inconceivable amount of attending paperwork. I mean, the loan documents alone….

In the last year pre-President Donald Trump – government regulated at a cost of $2 trillion more. That is an unfathomable number of printed directive pages – as the Leviathan orders us around hither and yon.

The hundreds of just federal government agencies, departments, commissions and boards extrude all sorts of regs, fiats, reports, memoranda and a whole host of other parchments and documents. More

Trump’s Deregulating and It’s Working – Why Would Congress Reimpose Any of It?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

We ALL Would Be

President Donald Trump’s Administration – is a tax-and-regulations-cutting machine. Less government nigh everywhere – as far as the eye can see.

And the direct results – have been outstanding.

To wit: This (in this instance with the glorious assistance of the Republicans – and only the Republicans – in Congress):

President Trump Signs Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into Law

The Real Protectionism: Defending DC’s Crony Globalist Fake ‘Free Trade’

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

For a Change.

President Donald Trump wants to fix the nightmare mess that is DC’s crony globalist fake “free trade” – and conservatives all across the nation are up in arms.

Calm down, Leftists – “up in arms” is a figure of speech. Were this an actual emergency – like, say, Democrat murder capitols like Chicago or Baltimore or a Bernie Sanders supporter attempting to murder baseball-playing Republican Congressmen and their staffers – we would let you know. We always do – not that you ever do anything helpful about any of it.

A lot of really great conservative thinkers – are very, very angry with Trump’s tariff threat.

(Please note: They at this point remain threats – not tariffs. Read “The Art of the Deal.” Very often you threaten, but never enact – the threat is enough to better the deal.)

And as much as I like and respect so very many of these conservative thinkers – they are all very, very wrong.

A lot of what you get from them is a lot of talking points – spewed in Tourette’s Syndrome fashion. “Tariffs are taxes!” “Protectionism is bad!” “Free trade is good!”

The very obvious secret is – I agree with all of these points.

The other very obvious secret is – none of them apply to what DC pretends is “free trade.” More

President Trump: The Federal Government Should Spend Zero Dollars on Infrastructure

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

May We Please FINALLY Figure This Out?

I supported and generally support President Donald Trump – predicated largely on what he campaigned and on his doing that on which he campaigned.

And I am mostly pleased that the latter has hued to the former so historically closely.

Contrary to prevailing sentiment – we Trump supporters do not like every single thing Trump proposed or proposes. Nor do we refrain from vocalizing said disdain when it arises.

To wit: I think each and every gun law – is stupid (not to mention unconstitutional). Blaming the actions of people on inanimate objects – is stupid. Passing laws in an attempt to preemptively affect the behavior of lawbreakers – is stupid.

Trump has discussed several particularly stupid gun proposals – which is actually in violation of Campaign Trump’s campaigning – and I have had zero problem publicly writing and saying that they are stupid. More

National Security: US Needs to Stop Singapore’s Gordon Gekko from Handing the Internet to China

Seton Motley | Red State | RedState.com

Indeed They Do

The analysis to follow – requires the definition of several terms.

We’ll begin with two.

Gordon Gekko: “(A) fictional character in the 1987 film ‘Wall Street’ and its 2010 sequel ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.’ The character (is) a ruthless and wildly wealthy investor and corporate raider….”

Corporate Raider: “A corporate raider is an investor who buys a large number of shares in a corporation….The large share purchase would give the corporate raider significant voting rights, which could then be used to push changes in the company’s leadership and management….

“A corporate raider might want to see certain assets and business lines divested from the company, possibly to unlock the value of the asset or to remove a detriment to the company’s bottom line. That could include eliminating offices and production facilities that are costly to maintain.” More

The Left’s Fake Grassroots: The Best Big Money Can Buy

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

How Organic

The Left is excellent at faking things. They long ago had to become so – because Reality so implicitly contradicts everything for which they stand.

The atrocity shooting at Florida’s Parkland High School – has become a crass political opportunity for the cold, callous Left. Because they never allow a crisis to go to waste.

The Left ignores the fact that the Left themselves have banned guns from schools – and ever since the overwhelming majority of mass shootings occur in schools.

The Left ignores the fact that prior to their stupid Gun Free Zones – guns were almost ubiquitous at very many schools, and there were almost no school shootings.

The Left ignores the fact that four cops showed up at the school during the shooting – and then failed to enter the school and deal with the shooter.

The Left ignores the fact that everyone and their mother warned government at all levels that this insane person was an insane person – and government at all levels did nothing. More

Immigration, Internet,…: The Left’s Warped, Ridiculously Fake Federalism

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Left’s Bizarro ‘Federalism’

Our nation’s Founding Fathers – were geniuses. They overcame the unbelievable handicaps of being white, male and by nigh all accounts all heterosexual – to create the greatest form of government in the history of personkind.

Amongst their very many brilliances – was federalism. The concept of a very limited federal government with expressed powers – leaving the unexpressed and all the rest to the states and the people. The Ninth and Tenth Amendments to our Constitution help lock down this federalism.

The Founders knew they weren’t perfect (though they came exquisitely close). Their federalism allows states to experiment with new ideas of how to govern. And if the citizens of one state don’t like what that state is doing – they can move to another. Yet another Founder deference to the governed.

This state-by-state-experimentation is what Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis later called “laboratories of democracy.” (We’ll ignore Brandeis’ one error – we’re a republic, not a democracy – and give him copious credit for grasping the federalism concept.)

The Left, of course, loathes federalism. Nationally syndicated radio host Chris Plante rightly observes that the Left wants to mandate that which they do not want to ban – and ban that which they do not want to mandate. More

How Could You Steal From This Face?

I am a retired musician. I play three instruments and sing. And most important from a prospective remuneration perspective – I wrote the stuff we sang and played.

I never sold my goal of fifteen million records – so here I sit before you now.

But life’s rules are immutable. And writing about them – in song, or essay, or free verse or whatever – changes them not a whit.

I was a hopeful records-seller residing in Austin, Texas – “The Live Music Capital of the World” – when stolen-music-website Napster burst on to the scene. From which you could download tens of thousands of songs – without paying a penny for any.

I steadfastly refused to illegally steal any tunes from Napster. But in Austin I was surrounded by musicians – and I can not recall a single one of them who didn’t illegally steal from Napster. More

Always and Everywhere

The Internet is a wonderment. Perhaps the greatest feat of human achievement…ever.

Of course things like penicillin and the polio vaccine are wonderments – and amazing betterments of man. But they were rifle shots. The Internet is an omni-directional automatic shotgun. With benefits redounding up and down – in 360 degrees.

To name but one medical benefit: Soon doctors will be able to perform examinations, surgeries and other procedures…remotely. Doctors Without Borders…on steroids. Dedicated broadband connections will allow cameras and robot hands to be controlled by doctors…from anywhere. Delivering lifesaving care…anywhere and everywhere.

America’s Internet Service Providers (ISPs) – are the world’s leaders. They have connected the vast land mass that is America (it is much easier to connect tinier places). And rapidly delivered us from ridiculously slow 14K dial-up – to 1GB of lightening speed…and beyond.

And we are on the verge of the Fifth Generation (5G) wireless network – which really should be called Second Level. This transformation will infinitely expand our Internet – and our concept of the Internet. And deliver us countless things we can not yet even conceive. More
