Those in Subsidized Houses – Shouldn’t Throw Crony Government Accusations

A Giant Sucker –

We less-government-types want to see an end to as much government subsidy money and protectionism as possible.

We who understand economics and human nature – realize the omni-directional warping that government causes.

For instance, too many people do the subsidized thing – creating massive surpluses, and attending massive losses.

Surplus Wheat Production Resulting in Heavy Losses: “Atif Ikram Sheikh – who is also Group Leader of HCCI and Chairman FPCCI Regional Committee on Industries – said the support price of the wheat, which presently stands at Rs 1,300 per mound, is the reason behind all the trouble.”

Who sets “the support price of wheat?” Government, of course. More

83% Bots: We Told You the Power Grab ‘Comment Period’ is Titanically Stupid

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Yet Another Very Helpful ‘Comment’ Avalanche Underway

We have rather recently delved into the scintillating stupidity of the government bureaucracy “Comment Period”:

“One of the ways these agencies attempt to cover up their unilateral power grabs – is with a veneer of alleged We the People participation. Behold the utter dumbness of the ‘Comment Period.’

“Where some agency of which you’ve never heard – and to whom you’ve elected no one – quietly announces a period where you can file thoughts on the damage they’re about to inflict upon you.

“Of course, the Comment Period is entirely and solely Democracy Theater….(I)f the government wants to do something new – the process has to begin with legislation by the Legislative Branch. Not bureaucratic fiats by Executive Branch agencies…. More

Obamacare Democrats – Now Promise ‘Affordable’ Government Internet ‘For All’

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Solution to More Government – Ain’t More Government

Obamacare’s official legislative name was, of course, “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.” Washington, D.C. is very good at naming things. DC remains very terrible at doing things.

Patients haven’t been protected by the law – they’ve been assaulted by it. And affordability was exterminated at the moment of enactment.

All of the Obamacare promises – were a lie.

Government Mandating Maximums and Minimums is Almost Always Awful

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Natch

Those of us who understand rudimentary economics – and/or those of us who have paid any attention at all to the last half century-plus – know the government mandating maximums and minimums is a ridiculously bad idea.

Republican President Richard Nixon imposed (wage and) price controls – maximums on what can be charged. How’d that go?

It was a part of Nixon government-mandating flurry that was subsequently dubbed “The Nixon Shock.” That doesn’t sound very good:

“The centerpiece of the Nixon Shock was its controls on prices. In a market economy, freely fluctuating prices are the nervous system that coordinates supply and demand….The price controls did tame inflation temporarily, but it came roaring back within three years to double-digit levels and persisted through the 1970s because of loose monetary policy. A tight lid on a boiling tea pot can only contain the steam for a time before it explodes. More

More Broadband Access for Everyone? Get Rid of the Massive Government Taxes and Fees

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Will No One Rid Us of These Meddlesome Fees?

One of the very many avenues the Left uses as an excuse to grow government – is the alleged “digital divide.” The number of people who do not have access to Internet service – contrasted with the number who do.

Broadband Digital Divide ‘Becoming a Chasm’: “There is ‘growing digital inequality between…the rich and the poor…’ says the United Nations’ Broadband Commission in its latest report.”

Does anyone actually believe the “digital divide” “between rich and poor” in the United States – is actually getting worse? That there is a smaller percentage of people with Internet access now – then there were three years ago? Five? Ten?

It is an absolutely absurd assertion. More

Decades of Bad Global Trade Deals – Have Led to MUCH More Government Everywhere

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Do So Globally – and Locally

Big government policies are, of course, antithetical to productive people engaging in useful work. Most people who do a job – find quite obnoxious the giant bites governments take out of their paychecks, efforts and time.

These people are natural allies of the less government movement. But of course, big government and its advocates know this. So governments and their advocates have long been crafting big government policies – with crony outs for productive people. More

Bureaucracy Power Grab Comment Periods Are Always Stupid – and Often Corrupt

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

We Desire No Kinks in Government – Unless It’s Ray Davies

We have very many times discussed the very many unilateral power grabs of the very many Executive Branch departments, agencies, commissions and boards.

And we have noted that a particularly stupid part of these power grab processes – is the fake democracy veneer applied that is the Comment Period:

“Where some agency of which you’ve never heard – and to whom you’ve elected no one – quietly announces a period where you can file thoughts on the damage they’re about to inflict upon you. More

Google’s Long, Sordid History of Rampantly Abusing Its Massive Power

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

All Hail the King – or Else

Uber-huge mega-company Google has been of late repeatedly buffeted by very unflattering news. Story after story demonstrating Google’s corporate philosophy of using its massive power to bend others to its will – and break those who won’t.

Some of us have been chronicling this for years. But now it is breaking into the very mainstream.

The Dutch boy removing his digit from the Google news dyke – was James Damore. Damore, a Google engineer, wrote a memorandum detailing the surprising oneness of Google’s hive mind.

Key Component of Actually Free Trade: Punishing Bad Actors

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Finally – We’re Using Both

We have long roundly ridiculed what has passed for “free trade” in Washington, D.C.

Where we remove nigh all of our government impediments to the goods and services of every other nation on the planet. And nigh no other country returns the favor. Nations the world over impose all sorts of tariffs and regulatory impediments upon anything we wish to export to them.

About which we have done absolutely nothing. For decades.

It’s the same story – over and over and over again. We get beaten and abused throughout the duration of an existing trade deal. About which we do…nothing. And then we sit down to negotiate the next trade deal – acting as if the beatings and abuse haven’t been happening. And we blithely cut another, idiotically similar new trade deal – that allows the beatings and abuse to continue unabated.

Lather, rinse, repeat. For decades. More

Net Neutrality Proven Titanically Stupid – By Net Neutrality’s Proponents

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

So Let’s Put Them in
Charge of the Internet

Network Neutrality has for more than a decade been all the rage on the Left. Emphasis – as is alway the case with the Left – on rage.

Especially so now, as the Donald Trump Administration’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is in the process of rolling back said power grab – along with the equally ridiculous imposition on the Web of 1934 Title II landline telephone law. All imposed just two years ago by the Barack Obama Administration’s FCC.

Net Neutrality is the titanically stupid insistence that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) treat each and every thing on the Internet exactly the same.

For instance, emails from Nigerian princes – deserve equal access to you as does a doctor performing your remote, online Lasik eye surgery. If that causes your surgeon’s connection to buffer and stall – well that’s just too bad. You didn’t want to read those Nigerian prince emails anyway.

We less government types find Net Neutrality and Title to be titanically stupid for at least two reasons. It is antithetical to the Constitution – and to even a rudimentary understanding of economics. More
