Senator Toomey on Steel – Was Trump Before Trump. Why Not for Other Industries?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Want Some Candy?

Pennsylvania Republican Senator Pat Toomey is an America First bull when it comes to protecting from ridiculous international actors and actions the United States steel industry. And has been for decades.

And no wonder. Steel is a bit of a thing in Pennsylvania. There’s even an NFL team named after the industry’s employees. And lots of his constituents do indeed work in the industry.

But many, many more used to do so. Ridiculous international actors and actions have undercut Toomey’s state’s steel – so Toomey has long gone to bat for it and them. And God bless him – he was and is exactly right to do so.

Because if other steel-producing nations are blocking our steel, subsidizing theirs and flooding our market – that trade has absolutely nothing to do with actual free trade.

Why, then, isn’t Toomey capable of seeing the exact same international inanities doing damage to other U.S. industries? More

Obama’s Anti-American, Anti-IP Global Avalanche Is Finally Opposed…Elsewhere

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Sadly, Obama Also Exported This

The Barack Obama Administration was seriously anti-American. I do not say this lightly.

Evidence is coming to light all over the world that the Administration routinely, actively worked against American interests – seemingly everywhere any American was interested.

We last week chronicled how Todd Robinson – the Administration’s Ambassador to Guatemala – worked with Guatemalan environmentalist radical groups to coach them to sue an American company that had invested $1 billion in a Guatemalan silver mine.

The Administration’s Ambassador then pressured the Guatemalan government to appoint radical Left judges – who then presided over the cases the Administration’s Ambassador had coached the local environmental radical groups to file.

Not exactly an America First approach, is it?

Some of the Administration’s anti-American foreign work – began at home. And in our next particular instance – very late in the Administration game: More

Of COURSE Regulations Stifle Private Sector Investment

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

20,000 Leagues Under DC

One of the dumbest of DC assertions – is that more government regulation doesn’t harm private sector investment. That somehow the higher cost of compliance with government diktats – doesn’t detract from private entities spending money on the areas harmed by the government diktats.

This defies many aspects of Reality – and contributes a great many additional examples to DC’s Department of Duh. One of the very many immutable areas it defies and defiles – is math.

The federal government alone has regulations that cost the private sector $2-trillion-per-year with which to comply. That’s $2-trillion-per-year – that the private sector has to waste on government. Which means the private sector – can’t invest it. Duh.

That’s the one government shoe dropping. The other is the worst aspect of government regulation – the private sector creations we’ll never get to enjoy. Because they never happen – because government regulation drives the private money that would make them possible entirely out of the sectors regulated. More

We Need to Undo Obama’s ‘America Last’ State Department Inanity

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let’s End Anti-American American Foreign Policy, Shall We?

The Barack Obama Administration was throughout its tenure thoroughly and completely America Last. Not only were our national interests at home and abroad not advanced – they were often actively subjugated.

This absolutely pertained to our nation’s businesses – and their investments and operations overseas.

To wit: The Administration didn’t like intellectual property – so it drafted and filed the blueprint lawsuit other nations subsequently used to globally undermine (and wrongfully rob of hundreds of billions of dollars) American innovation company Qualcomm.

Well, we are now very thankfully no longer subjected to the Obama Administration. And instead, we are enjoying the very America First Donald Trump Administration. Which is working very diligently to undo so much of Obama’s America Last inanity.

We humbly submit another undoing for the Administration’s consideration: To what the U.S. company Tahoe Resources is being subjected in Guatemala regarding its Escobal silver mining operation. More

Why Don’t We Want More Government in the Internet? IDK…China, Maybe?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let Us Please Stop Emulating
the Likes of China

We less government types have all along the way opposed the ridiculous policy known as Network Neutrality. For a whole host of rational, reasonable free market and free speech reasons.

Because more government is always bad for all things free market and free speech. And Net Neutrality is a dramatic increase in government’s involvement in the Internet.

We have all along the way warned that what the Left says Net Neutrality is – isn’t what Net Neutrality will actually turn out to be. No government policy or program ever is.

Anything the government ever does – does nothing it is supposed to do, and everything it is not.

To wit: Obamacare was officially entitled “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.” But from the very moment of implementation, Obamacare has targeted for destruction patients – and rendered health care exponentially less affordable.] More

It Would Be Nice if the Media Checked at Least a Little into its Leftist Sources

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Usual Suspects

Our “news media” – a term I use as loosely as is possible – never finds it beneath them to use as “sources” whatever Leftist hacks they can find. Nothing matters – so long as their “sources” help to further their efforts to slag non-Leftists.

They care not at all how frequently, how much or how deeply these “sources” have lied. Or how deeply corrupt or conflicted they are. If they speak ill of non-Leftists – their word is reportable gold.

To wit: We’re now receiving much additional information about the patently absurd “Donald Trump-Russia Dossier.” A collection of nonsense that alleged a years-long collusion conspiracy between Trump and Russia.

Which magically found its way to ridiculous BuzzFeed’s electronic pages – not to mention anti-Trump Arizona “Republican” Senator John McCain and the Barack Obama Administration’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). More

Behold the Two Dumb Definitions of the Dumb Phrase ‘Patent Troll’

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Almost Certainly the
Most Important Property of All

Those of us who appreciate a free market economy that actually has vim and vigor – know we need Intellectual Property (IP) protection. Even more so now in our 21st Century Information Economy:

“Economy in which knowledge is the primary raw material and source of value.”

And how do we protect “knowledge” – “the primary raw material and source of value?” With IP protections – also known as copyrights, trademarks and patents.

God bless our Agrarian Economy Founding Fathers – they got this. And they got this – back when most people were tilling fields rather than putting quill to parchment (let alone typing on keyboards).

Of such incredible import did the Founders deem IP protection – they ensconced it by name in the Constitution: More

Net Neutrality is Stupid Policy, Has Never Been Popular – and Needs to Finally Go Away

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let Us Lift the Boot, Shall We?

We have on numerous occasions detailed how titanically stupid Network Neutrality is.

It in the early 2000s actually began as four innocuous items – to which no one at all objected.

Consumers are entitled to access the lawful Internet content of their choice.

Consumers are entitled to run applications and services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement.

Consumers are entitled to connect their choice of legal devices that do not harm the network.

Consumers are entitled to competition among network providers, application and service providers, and content providers. More

Penny Wise-Pound Foolish is Bad Government Policy

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let’s Not, Shall We?

We want less government – in all things. This is not a moment-to-moment, transient concept. This is an overarching, timeless desire.

We are not short-sighted in this pursuit. This sometimes means spending a little more government money up front – to save a whole lot of government money later.

Spending a little government coin now on a border wall and better border enforcement – will save us down the road a TON of government money spent on medical care, housing, schools, welfare checks and a whole host of other government-funded things.

Spent not just on the 20 million or so illegal aliens. But also on the American citizens whose jobs and wages are squelched by the illegally imported competitors. And all Americans – whose taxes have to be inexorably, dramatically increased to pick up the titanic illegal alien-induced government tab. More

Those in Subsidized Houses – Shouldn’t Throw Crony Government Accusations

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

A Giant Sucker –

We less-government-types want to see an end to as much government subsidy money and protectionism as possible.

We who understand economics and human nature – realize the omni-directional warping that government causes.

For instance, too many people do the subsidized thing – creating massive surpluses, and attending massive losses.

Surplus Wheat Production Resulting in Heavy Losses: “Atif Ikram Sheikh – who is also Group Leader of HCCI and Chairman FPCCI Regional Committee on Industries – said the support price of the wheat, which presently stands at Rs 1,300 per mound, is the reason behind all the trouble.”

Who sets “the support price of wheat?” Government, of course. More
