The Don Quixote Clown Show That Is the New York Attorney General’s Office

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Attorney General
Eric Schneiderman de la Mancha

The Donald Trump presidential election and ensuing Era has left the Left plumbing new depths of abject disbelief in Reality.  Their desperation has led them to serially, incessantly chase fake news as if it is actually news – on all of which We the People look in disbelief.

We just yesterday had a day-long House hearing – in which nigh every Democrat asked after a fact-free allegation that there was some sort of coordination between the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin’s Russia.  This has been the Democrat mantra – for going on a year now.  There remains zero evidence of any such collusion.  Yet the Left continues its Don Quixote impression – tilting at yet another windmill.

Who exactly was Don Quixote?: “(A) Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedera…(about) an hidalgo named Mr. Alonso Quixano who reads so many chivalric romances that he loses his sanity and decides to set out to revive chivalry, undo wrongs, and bring justice to the world, under the name Don Quixote de la Mancha….Don Quixote…does not see the world for what it is and prefers to imagine that he is living out a knightly story….”

“Russia hacked the election” – is a Quixote-esque fantasy.  But of course, the Left’s very many Don Quixotes predate by decades the electoral arrival of Trump.  And very few if any have done windmills and delusion better than New York state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Schneiderman has spent the last several years doing what very few people would consider the actual job of the Attorney General of New York – hounding international oil and gas company ExxonMobil.  How Exxon conducting its global business is germane to the chief law enforcement officer of one particular state – is light years beyond me. Did Obama’s EPA Ignore a Crisis – to Make the Case for Even More Government?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Obama, Inc.’s
Modus Operandi

Remember Fast and Furious?: “As a refresher, from 2009 to 2011, agents from the (President Barack Obama) Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF), overseen by the (Obama Department of Justice) DOJ, allowed known straw purchasers working for Mexican cartels to illegally buy thousands of firearms at U.S. gun shops.

“The ATF allowed those purchases to be illegally trafficked south of the border and into the hands of killers. The government lost track of most of the guns, and once in Mexico, they were used in an untold number of crimes.

“In December 2010, Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was killed by Mexican bandits in Rico Valley, Ariz, and guns found at his murder scene were from the Fast and Furious operation.

“Now, after more than five years of waiting, we finally received confirmation that the murder of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)agent Jaime Zapata in 2011 is also directly linked to Obama-era gunrunning.”

Why on Earth did the Obama Administration do something this titanically stupid?

Documents: ATF Used ‘Fast and Furious’ to Make the Case for Gun Regulations

And we know Obamacare was designed to fail – so as to make the case against the private sector and for full-on government medicine – because the architect of Obamacare publicly said so.

So one is inexorably led to wonder if the Obama Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ignored for years an environmental nightmare mess in Puerto Rico – so as to make the case for even more government control. More

Finally, FINALLY, a Democrat Breaks Lockstep Unity Ranks with the Party

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Governor Andrew Cuomo –
Causing the First Hole in the Democrat Dyke in Decades

Give Democrats their due – they don’t deviate from the Party line.  No matter how absurd the things they’re defending are, no matter how insane they look doing it, no matter how much damage they incur in doing it – they do all of it together.  They are the Lemming Party – marching in lockstep off of cliff after cliff.

At this point, it is inordinately difficult to argue that this all-in uniformity is a winning strategy.  Much has been made of newly ex-president Barack Obama presiding over his Party losing over  1,000 seats up and down the ballot.  But while the man, his awful policies and his utter corruption certainly contributed to this nigh total collapse – he himself was reelected in 2012.  He managed to evade personal electoral culpability.

Thus the argument could be made that his fellow Democrats remaining steadfastly loyal to him, his awful policies and his utter corruption – was far and away the bigger contributor to the Party’s national implosion.

Lessons un-learned.  The Democrats’ lockstep loyalty to Hillary Clinton, her awful policies and her utter corruption – delivered political neophyte Republican Donald Trump a huge upset Presidential win.  In large part because Trump ran against just this sort of nonsense.  And since Trump’s victory, the Democrats have as one done everything possible to impede We the People’s duly elected President. We Must Save the Environment – From the Environmentalists

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Still Not Funny

The joke is so old and repetitive – because the joke that is environmentalism and environmentalists is so old and repetitive.  Time and again, nigh every time environmentalists gather to gripe about some fairy tale or other – or to simply listen to tunes, turn on, tune in and drop out – they have left behind an environmental disaster.

Remember Woodstock?  The 1969 Peace, Love and Narcotics concert in New York state?  These “Love Your Mother EarthGaia worshippers – left the concert field looking like a nuclear trash bomb had been dropped.  Ironic – given the Hippies’ “No Nukes” movement.

Flash forward forty years.  Remember Occupy Wall Street?  That was the second iteration of the Left’s series of failed attempts to replicate the germane grassroots magic of the Tea Party (remember the Coffee Party?).  Occupy’s chief complaint was against corporations (about which they vigorously complained on Twitter, Inc. and Facebook, Inc. – via their Apple, Inc. iPhones and Samsung, Inc. Galaxies).  Of course a component of their anti-corporation sentiment – was that corporations are destroying the planet.  They’re evil, they’re giant – and they mass-pollute.

You know who definitely destroyed their little corners of the planet?  Occupy Wall Street.  “They…were…the 99%” – of the massive mess makers in their anti-corporate equation.  They defecated and urinated on police cars.  Because – classy.  They lived in filth – and left it behind when they vamoosed.  Leaving the corporations and straight-job-having-taxpayers they loathe to pick up the tab for their noxious tantrums. NY’s Legislators Rise Up Against Governor Cuomo’s Crony ‘Green Energy’ Boondoggle

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo –
and His Staff

(At least ) two notions from famous Americans come to mind when contemplating New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s $8 billion flight of unilateral crony “green energy” fancy.

Playwright George Bernard Shaw noted: “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”  And American social scientist William Graham Sumner penned in 1883 “The Forgotten Man” – in which he rightly identifies the “forgotten men” as the citizens paying for the government fiascos in which politicians engage.

What brings these men’s wise words to a New York state of mind?: “Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a unilateral mass expansion of government – in the name of fighting global warming…oops, I mean climate change: ‘The state’s Public Service Commission (PSC) earlier Monday passed a new set of standards that by 2030 is supposed to ensure that half of New York’s energy needs are met by renewable methods, ranging from solar and wind, as well as hydro and nuclear power.’”

Is that gi-normous “green energy” increase possible? Not so much as it is highly improbable: “As of 2015, New York only generated 11% of its energy via renewables. A tally it has taken them decades – and tens of billions of subsidy dollars – to attain. And now they have mandated a nearly 500% increase – in only fifteen years. Predicated, again, upon energy sources that require massive, ongoing government cash infusions – and in most instances take more energy to produce than they provide.”

The lofty “green energy” goals nigh certainly won’t happen – but the massive taxes to pay for the attempt certainly will: “(T)he Public Service Commission also included a new (energy) tax worth $8 billion.” More

NY’s Government Assault on Exxon: Coordinated in Advance with Leftist Groups

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Lubricated with Lots of Leftist Loot

Remember when the Donald Trump transition team asked the outgoing Barack Obama Energy Department for a list of the staffers working on Obama’s global warming – oops, I mean climate change – alarmist agenda?  And the Left and the media (please pardon the redundancy) absolutely freaked out about them asking?  And the Obama Energy Department refused to comply with the (very reasonable) request?

Team Trump was absolutely on the right track – but, unfortunately, didn’t continue down it.  Trump has so far kept on board hordes of Obama holdovers – and they have been incessantly burning him ever since.

Team Trump was right to ask – because personnel is policy.  Bad, radical personnel – leads to bad, radical policy.  For instance, bad, radical government officials (like, say, those working on bad, radical climate policy) will work with bad, radical outside groups – to end run the rule of law and manifestly harass law-abiding private companies.  For having the temerity to engage in lawful commerce – which this bad, radical gaggle happens to loathe.

How do we know this?  How did Team Trump likely know this?  At least in part because of Trump’s home state of New York – a particularly bad, radical example of just this sort of anti-law, anti-freedom, anti-Reality government. More

The Government First-Last-and-Only Approach Has Failed: In DC, and New York, and….

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Waste Machine

Governments the world over have spent the last century-plus rigidly insisting that they can do…well, everything better than We the Peoples can.  That private citizens, engaged in voluntary interactions amongst themselves – will only blow it.  That government is required to run things – to ensure nothing goes sideways.

As the last century-plus has incessantly demonstrated – these governments couldn’t have been more wrong.  The world allowed its governments to inexorably increase their roles – and everything they touched lurched wholly sideways.

We’ve certainly seen that here in the United States.  Governments at all levels grew and grew – and things kept getting worse and worse.  The federal government thought it could spend our money better than we can.  And it is now $20 trillion in debt – while funding a series of “Feed the Pig” commercials lecturing us about the importance of saving.

The Feds thought they should get into the Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and medical insurance businesses.  And now Social Security and Medicare are nearly $300 trillion short.  Meanwhile, the Dow Jones just hit a record-high 20,000.  And the Feds launched Obamacare – another assault on private medical insurance. Let’s Rollback Bad Government – At All Levels. Because the Emperors Have No Clothes

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Parading Through Governments Everywhere

We have dubbed the Trump ascendancy to the presidency the Reality Revolution.  For decades the Washington, D.C. Establishment Emperor walked around stark naked.  And none of the Establishment Emperor’s Courtiers would point out his “clothes” weren’t clothes – because they were making too much coin pretending they were.

Decades of DC failures – dubbed “successes” by DC’s denizens – have resulted in $20 trillion in debt, nearly $300 trillion in unfunded liabilities for government program “successes” – and thousands and thousands of agencies and programs that are complete wastes of space, effort and coin, that nevertheless live on (and on, and on, and….)

We the People have all along seen (and been repulsed by) the Establishment Emperor’s nakedness.  And have all along seen (and been repulsed by) the Establishment Emperor’s Courtiers playing along and cashing in.

Then, finally, along comes Trump – who matter-of-factly said “Hey, that guy is naked.”  We the People were so thrilled – we rewarded him with the presidency.  Thus far, for the most part, he isn’t disappointing. More

Fake News: When Leftist Foundations Fund Activism Posing as Journalism

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Foundations Edition

#FakeNews is currently in the news “big league.”  Thanks to ridiculous Buzzfeed’s ridiculous release of a 35-page Donald Trump disinformation litany (to which we absolutely will not link).  A litany so fake – it was printed under the heading “Disinformation.”  But ridiculous Buzzfeed released it anyway.

This litany had been floating around Washington, D.C. for months – untouched by DC’s alleged journalists.  But DC’s alleged journalists – once Buzzfeed broke the seal – piled in behind them like Japanese subway commuters to further amplify it.

This is by no means the only flavor of fake news that exists.  Another long-standing-though-less-ballyhooed version is when Leftist foundations fund Leftist activists – who generate “news” that the media then mindlessly parrot, without any mention of the mammoth money behind it.  All the while, the media roundly lambastes much tinier right-of-center efforts to tell their story.

For instance: You’ve of course heard of the libertarian Koch brothers – because the media have made sure of it.  The Kochs donate money to groups to advance free markets – and the media goes bananas reporting about it.  But the Koch coin isn’t even close to the real story: More

‘Repeal and Replace’: It’s for Much More Than Just Awful Obamacare

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Repeal and Replace: It’s Not Just for Breakfast Anymore

Repeal and Replace” is currently all the rage in Washington, D.C.  As well it should be.  As the newly ensconced Republican trinity (President, Senate and House) work to excavate We the People from the awfulness that is Obamacare.

But there is a whole lot more government awfulness than just Obamacare.  And there is a whole lot more government awfulness than just in Washington.  There are fifty states that have state, county, municipality and city governments – and nigh all of them are doing things that they should be stopped from doing.  “Repeal and Replace” should be a nationwide, multi-level-government phenomenon.

To wit: New York State: “Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a unilateral mass expansion of government – in the name of fighting global warming…oops, I mean climate change: ‘The state’s Public Service Commission (PSC) earlier Monday passed a new set of standards that by 2030 is supposed to ensure that half of New York’s energy needs are met by renewable methods, ranging from solar and wind, as well as hydro and nuclear power.’”

(Hey, at least Obamacare [marginally, sketchily] passed through the legislative branch.  This Cuomo, Inc. power grab is via unilateral executive branch fiat.)

Cuomo, Inc’s pronounced shift from actual energy to “green energy” – which as we have seen for years is neither green nor energy – is leading to some additional really stupid things.  Like the Cuomo, Inc. shutdown of two Indian Point nuclear power plants – ironically, the only green energy source that actually produces energy: “The two reactors at Indian Point, which are owned by New Orleans-based Entergy Corporation, provide about 25 percent of the electricity needed by New York City.” More
