Mexico: Bad Trade Deals Are Even Worse – When Nations Violate Them

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let’s Cut Some Less Government Deals –
And Then Adhere to Them

The “anti-free trade” label is these days blithely thrown around a lot.  Mostly at President Donald Trump – and people who agree with him and his desire to revamp how we’ve long done trade.

Mostly by people who blithely accept getting royally ripped off in the one-sided “free” trade deals we’ve long been cutting.

We objectors actually very much like actual free trade.  Where each party treats all other parties equally – with less government and justice for all.  However, in very few instances are those the types of trade deals to which we’ve agreed.

We get our government out of the way of other nations’ products.  While allowing other nations to tax and other wise impede our products.  We (mostly) keep the government out of our internal production for export.  While other nations subsidize the daylight out of theirs – which obviously affords them a gross, distorted advantage on the world market.

Allowing any of this at all was stupid.  Allowing all of this repeatedly, serially for decades – was titanically so.  What it wasn’t – was free trade. More

The Left: A History of Violence and Racism – Net Neutrality ‘Comments’ Edition

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Another Peaceful Left Assemblage

Godfather of Communism Karl Marx counseled: “Accuse others of what you do.”  More than a century’s worth of Marx-Communist disciples – have rigorously adhered to this tenet.

Communism has…a bit of a history-of-violence problem.  It spent the 20th Century – murdering roughly 100 million people.

The American Left really hasn’t held up its end of the bargain on the body count – but that doesn’t mean their past isn’t rife with murder, violence and mayhem.  See: The Ku Klux Klan, the Weathermen/Weather Underground and the Black Panthers – to name but a few.

But throughout their history of violence – the American Left has consistently and very successfully pinned the “Barbarity” label – on the Right.  Accusing others of what they do.

Heck, they’ve even successfully ascribed to the Right the Democrat Party-born Klan – which spent so much of its time murdering blacks and the Republicans who helped them.

Flash forward to the modern era – nothing has changed.  The Tea Party was accused of being a racist, violent response to Barack Obama – America’s first black president.  Except the Tea Party actually got its start protesting mass illegal immigrant amnesty and then massive bank bailouts – which were policies put forward by white Republican President George W. Bush.  And the only violence that ever took place at Tea Party rallies – was initiated by Leftists. More

Stupid Trade Policy Isn’t the Only Reason We Lose Jobs – But It’s a Big One

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Our Very Stupid,
Long-Unrequited Trade Policy

President Donald Trump is President Donald Trump in no small part because he campaigned acknowledging the elephant that left the room – that being the millions of jobs that have emigrated from the United States over the last several decades.

The Rust Belt – hasn’t always been rusty.  The oxidation onslaught came – as their jobs went.  Trump won – because he directly addressed why in a way no one from either Party had…basically ever.  Rust Belt states a Republican hasn’t won in ages – rewarded him.  Pennsylvania – last Republican red in 1988.  Michigan – 1988.  Wisconsin – 1984.  That was the ball game.

A political aside: Trump is obviously not a politician.  He is a far-from-perfect messenger – with a wholly imperfect message delivery system.  But he has an instinctual feel for what resonates with average Americans.  And a four-decade, uber-successful global business career that time and again showed him what works – and what doesn’t.  And the ability to connect the two – in a faulty-but-winning way.

Imagine what a polished politician – with honed political skills and rigorous message discipline – can do with the path to victory Trump has illuminated.  “Trumpism” certainly can long outlast Trump.  And it must – if the Republicans ever again want to win the Presidency.  Sorry, NeverTrumpers – but all we less-government-types need to acknowledge and embrace this.  End political aside. Google and Facebook Are Now Driving the ‘News’ Media Cart

Meet the New News Bosses

Our recurring joke – that is itself a ceaselessly recurring joke – is when we mention the “Media-Left,” we always follow it with “please pardon the redundancy.”  The Media-Left merger is now seamless.  I could hand you a New York Times article and a Daily Kos article – and you would be hard pressed to determine which is which (aside from the latter’s propensity for profanity). We will provide many such examples in just a bit.

As Rush Limbaugh repeatedly points out – the Media are the horse, the Left merely the cart the Media drags along behind.  And the Democrat Party is the inert, inept product in the cart – dragged along by both.

Without the Media’s tens of billions of dollars per annum in issue advocacy, the Left would be almost wholly relegated to college campuses, Hollywood – and maybe eight states.  Of the 535 seats in the United States Congress – the feckless Democrat Party would hold maybe forty.

You can not deconstruct the Left – without deconstructing the Media.  You must, in fact, lead with the Media.  Since the Media leads the Left. More

Net Neutrality: Venezuela for the Internet

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

No, Gracias

One of so many walking undead issues that shamble on in Washington, D.C. is the ridiculous government Internet overreach known as Network Neutrality.

Anything that the Left insists on imposing via unelected bureaucrats issuing regulatory fiats – rather than through legislation via our elected officials in Congress – is going to very much resemble a zombie.  Because these things are never truly good and dead (settled).

Net Neutrality certainly deserves to be good and dead.  For always.

Net Neutrality is Socialism for the Internet – it guarantees everyone equal amounts of nothing.  It is a government assault on the industry – to affect an ideological outcome: The end of any and all private sector Internet Service Providers (ISPs) – which will leave us with government as our sole ISP.

That’ll be outstanding for service, right?  When government takes over delivery of things – Venezuela ensues. More

George Soros and Google Champion Government Control of the Internet

Yes, Please –
With the Added Benefit of Angering George Soros and Google

Part of the President Donald Trump Reality Revolution – is undoing the President Barack Obama Anti-Reality Revolution.

You remember, the Obama-promised “fundamental transformation” – that led to amazingly bad policies and terrible results.  Obama’s massive regulatory assaults on all things private sector – were an intended disaster for the private sector.  Obama is the first president in our history to never, ever have even one year of at least 3% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.

Obama did this – because he wanted to repeal the private sector, and replace it with government.  More government – means less private sector.  Each new regulatory attack – was yet another government advancement.  Forcing yet another private sector retreat.  Lather, rinse repeat – for eight years.

This was the very successfully implemented plan.  Of not just Obama – but Obama’s backers.  Chief amongst them were George Soros and Google. More

The Media: Lemmings on Parade

Mass Murder – Shouldn’t Be Chic

Rap metal band Rage Against the Machine is known for, amongst other things, playing nigh every show in front of a giant banner of Communist mass murderer Che Guevara.  This is no accident: “‘We’ve considered Che a fifth band member for a long time now,’ gushed (guitarist) Tom Morello, ‘for the simple reason that he exemplifies the integrity and revolutionary ideals to which we aspire.’”

Well isn’t that special.

Flashback to 2002 and another musician (who actually sings) – Toby Keith.  The country star had – partly in response to the September 11th, 2001 Islamist attacks on our nation – written the massive hit “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.”

A very patriotic song – that admittedly has some brusque lyrics: “Justice will be served and the battle will rage – This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage – And you’ll be sorry that you messed with – The U.S. of A. – ‘Cause we’ll put a boot in your ass – It’s the American way.”

Keith’s song peaked at #1 on 2002 Independence Day weekend.  Good timing: the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) was putting on an Independence Day concert – and had invited Keith to perform. More

Things Global Trade Are, Slowly, Moving in a Less Government Direction

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Finally

When now-President Donald Trump first burst on to the political scene, one of the ways he made a name for himself was by ridiculing many of the trade deals the United States has spent the last several decades cutting.

Trump pointed out that our trade agreements were far from “free.”  They were usually one-sided sell-outs – where we agreed to not tax or regulate other countries’ imports, while none of the other countries agreed to do any such thing with ours.

Trump’s frequent visual aide was China (I still have yet to find a way to spell phonetically the way he pronounces it).  China taxes everything we send them.  China gives all sorts of preferential treatment to their companies that export.  China even manipulates their currency to artificially lower the prices of their exports on the global market.

About all of which we do…nothing.  We continue to cut deal after deal with them.  Where we pledge all sorts of free market protections for their products – and they promise none for ours, and are allowed to continue to manipulate the market in all of the same ways they always have.  And then we wave around the next signed agreement and hail it as another “free trade” deal – when it is anything but. Hill Democrats Given Lie-Filled Cheat Sheets for Pre-Planned Townhall ‘Spontaneity’

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Team Rocket Science

The longest-running joke in politics is the utter cluelessness of most Leftists – and elected Democrats.  Thanks to the wonderment of the free market Internet, the catalogue of examples of this are just a Web search away – and are near limitless in number.

At the height of Bernie Sanders mania, the maniacs were regularly asked basic questions about the socialism they were championing.  Their responses were mind-numbingly stupid.

Think Hillary Clinton supporters were any better?  Think again.  Asked to name “The Most Accomplished Person Ever to Run for the Presidency (TM)”’s top accomplishments – her supporters were time and again left speechless.  Although in their defense, their champion was also routinely unable to name any her own self.

And President Barack Obama – off the teleprompter – was…less than impressive.

Speaking of elected officials, some of the most ridiculous assertions ever made come therefrom.    Years ago, Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee was in NASA Headquarters in her home city of Houston watching do its thing the Mars Rover – the camera-equipped vehicle we regularly drop on the Red Planet.  Befuddled, she asked…why it wasn’t driven over to show us where our astronauts planted the United States flag.  Ummm, that was the Moon, Representative. The Media’s Mass Delusion and Dishonesty

It’s Been a Decades-Long Incursion

It’s always sadly amusing to watch America’s media march as one – in one direction after another.  To even the average observer, it would appear that they all receive the exact same issues to cover – and the exact same talking points with which to cover them.

The examples of this are at this point nigh limitless.  Talk radio impresario Rush Limbaugh has for years compiled his Media Montages – audio cavalcades of talking heads spouting identical words to describe the same stories.
