Remember the Barack Obama Administration’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) scandal? The media really wish you wouldn’t, which is why they never really reported on it while it occurred. And, in many ways, the IRS scandal continued well past its initial exposition date.

Bad Obama Ideas – Going Global

We just narrowly escaped the cronyism-infested eight years of the Barack Obama Administration. If you were a Leftist – the $4-trillion-per-year-government world was your oyster. The biggest bureaucratic favors of your wildest imaginings – were only a campaign contribution away.

Cronyism is one of the largest, slimiest critters in the Swamp against which now-President Donald Trump ran – promising to drain and dismantle. Which he – sporadically, in fits and starts – has started to do.

But as difficult as is unwinding the century-plus-long Swamp expansion – it got dramatically harder when the Obama-esque cronyism leaked out beyond our borders.

A fortnight ago we wrote of the DC Cronies working together to maximize their domestic cronyism when it comes to illegally strip-mining intellectual property (IP) protections:

The Left’s Stamp of ‘Approval’

The Left doesn’t like acquiescing to the will of We the People. They like – to degree that they can pull it off – to PRETEND to acquiesce to the will of We the People.

The Left’s agenda has never really resonated with us. So they’ve looked for as many ways as possible to circumvent us – and our Constitutional process of self-governance.

Here’s how things are supposed to work in Washington, D.C.:

The officials we elect to the Legislative Branch – legislate. They draft and pass laws. On which We the People can exert influence – via our First Amendment right “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The President (whom we also elect) then signs the laws – and then his/her Executive Branch executes them. The Judicial Branch – our court system – adjudicates legal disputes between parties.

Via this process did the Founding Fathers render it quite difficult to grow government. Which has always irked the Left – so the Left started end-running this process. More

We less government types want less government – for no shortage of reasons. To name but a few:

In no small part because government is awful at everything it does – so you want it doing as little as possible.

And the more government does – the more susceptible it is to being bribed into applying its might in the service of outside cronies. Favoring them – and hounding their competitors.

DC Should Be Permanently Grounded

WKRP in Cincinnati” is a fantastic legacy television show – about a 1970s rock-and-roll radio station. And perhaps its most famous episode – is “Turkeys Away.” (God bless the Internet – here is a thirty-second clipped summary thereof.)

WKRP general manager Arthur Carlson decides as a Thanksgiving promotion to drop live turkeys from a helicopter on a strip mall. Because he is somehow unaware that these particular fowl – are flightless. So basically he – as disc jockey Johnny Fever described it – “firebombed with live turkeys” the mall and everyone there.

Newsman Les Nessman returns from the debacle – and describes what subsequently happened: “Then Mr. Carlson had the helicopter land in the middle of the parking lot. I guess he thought he could save the day by turning the rest of the turkeys loose. It gets pretty strange after that….I really don’t know how to describe it. It was like the turkeys mounted a counter-attack. It was almost as if they were… organized.”

In Washington, D.C. – the Turkeys are most certainly organized. And have been for s VERY long time. And the American free market economy – is under constant arial assault therefrom. More

How Is It That the Weakest Trade Member of This Trio – Is Us?

President Donald Trump became President Donald Trump in no small part because he ran against the very bad deals of all sorts that America has spent the last several decades cutting. He did, after all, write “The Art of the Deal.”

Trump ran on “America First” – promising to rectify the decades of “America Last” deals Washington, D.C. has delivered.

And even if DC did manage to along the way cut an occasional decent deal – it isn’t any good if all parties don’t hold up their respective ends of the bargain. And, of course, that lack of full-on participation makes bad deals – even worse.

Trump the Businessman certainly understood the import of deal enforcement. Trump the President should follow his own lead.

In some instances, Trump already is. He just returned from his first international excursion – during which he admonished the very many North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members who have for decades been shorting us on their defense budget dues.

Regardless of your thoughts on NATO and our continued participation therein – it absolutely doesn’t make any sense if we’re just about the only ones adhering to it. There are 27 NATO countries – only four meet their defense budget treaty obligations. And most of them haven’t – for years, and years and years. More

Yet Another Leftist Thoughtful Policy Assertion

Leftism is a bereft ideology.  It is a certain set of ideas and government policies – all of which are horrendous when put into actual practice.  It pretends human nature – isn’t human nature.  And tries to reshape it – and the humans it imbues – with the fires and on the anvils of government.

Much of the world spent most of the Twentieth Century trying out Leftism.  It didn’t work – at all.  Not only that, one hundred million people were murdered in the attempt.  Because human nature – is human nature.  And the humans wouldn’t take to the Left’s governmental reshaping.  So these poor humans split and shattered – over, and over, and over again.

Yet we still today have to debate the cataclysmic deficiencies of Leftism.  And still have to fight an uphill battle to prevent its implementation.  What a colossal failing that is of our species.

President Donald Trump became President Donald Trump – in large part because We the People had watched nearly a century of ridiculous, awful, wasteful, uber-failed government expansion.  And had had enough.

Washington, D.C. has become a $4-trillion-per-year massive Fail.  A cronyism-infested, anti-productive Swamp.  Leftism – incarnate.  And We the People want less – of all of it.  Less government, less cronyism, less DC – less Leftism.  Time to Drain the Swamp. More

Let’s Cut Some Less Government Deals –
And Then Adhere to Them

The “anti-free trade” label is these days blithely thrown around a lot.  Mostly at President Donald Trump – and people who agree with him and his desire to revamp how we’ve long done trade.

Mostly by people who blithely accept getting royally ripped off in the one-sided “free” trade deals we’ve long been cutting.

We objectors actually very much like actual free trade.  Where each party treats all other parties equally – with less government and justice for all.  However, in very few instances are those the types of trade deals to which we’ve agreed.

We get our government out of the way of other nations’ products.  While allowing other nations to tax and other wise impede our products.  We (mostly) keep the government out of our internal production for export.  While other nations subsidize the daylight out of theirs – which obviously affords them a gross, distorted advantage on the world market.

Allowing any of this at all was stupid.  Allowing all of this repeatedly, serially for decades – was titanically so.  What it wasn’t – was free trade. More

The comedy world – like much of the entertainment world – is rife with people of the Left ideological persuasion.  There are, of course, exceptions – but on the main they are on the Left.

But then there is Robert Conquest’s Three Laws of Politics.  The first of which is: “Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.”  A law proven eminently true – when comedians steal jokes from other comedians.  Instantaneously, these Leftist laugh artists – become stalwart conservative champions of intellectual property (IP) rights.

What Does Conan O’Brien’s Court Fight Over Jokes Mean For The Wider World Of Comedy?: “Freelance joke writer Robert “Alex” Kaseberg has brought a suit against the writers of Conan (and the man himself), claiming that they stole five jokes from him in 2014-2015 (including one in very poor taste of Caitlyn Jenner’s transition). U.S. District Court Judge Janis Sammartino accepted that there was a possible case surrounding only three of the jokes….

“Even if this suit doesn’t end up going to trial, the taint of even alleged joke stealing can be a real black mark on a comedian. In his deposition, O’Brien said ‘Accusing a comedian of stealing a joke is the worst thing you can accuse them of, in my opinion, short of murder. I think it’s absolutely terrible.’ Clearly this is not something that the late night host is taking lightly. However, anytime an established comedian is profiting off of the work of a less well known entity is cause for concern.” More
