Net Neutrality: The Media Lies – Then Polls on the Results of Their Lies

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Not a Whit

A couple of week’s ago, the Donald Trump Administration’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced they on December 14 would be rightly, reasonably undoing the Barack Obama Administration FCC’s ridiculous, regressive Internet power grab.

Behold Network Neutrality. And the Obama FCC pretending to be Congress – and “reclassifying” the Internet.

“Reclassification” is Gov Speak – for changing the regulatory category in which the Internet exists.

Since the 1990s privatization of the Internet, the Web has existed in very lightly regulated Title I.

Not surprisingly, when government leaves something largely alone – great things happen.

Nothing in human history has grown bigger, better and/or faster than the Net – in no small part because the government was doing nothing to “help.”

Of course, the Obama Administration couldn’t stand something so freely doing so well. So they – without benefit of Congress – “reclassified” the Web to under Title II. More

Righting Another Obama Wrong: Re-Protecting Intellectual Property

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

A Very Welcome Change of Direction

The Barack Obama Administration was absolutely awful on intellectual property (IP).

Obama, Inc. set very many arms of the federal Leviathan to actively attacking IP protections.

Obama, Inc. sicced on IP the Department of Justice (DoJ) and its Federal Trade Commission (FTC). IP is a Constitutionally protected concept – protected in practice by the Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)’s issuance of patents, trademarks and copyrights. These IP protections grant their holders exclusive use of the ideas behind them.

The Obama FTC’s antitrust division ignored the Constitution and its own USPTO – and sued the government-issued IP protections…for being exclusively used by the government-issued IP-protections-holders.

With Congress, Obama, Inc. created within the USPTO the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Which turned the USPTO’s mission on its head – from an agency issuing patents…to one destroying them. More

President Trump’s War – On Government’s War on America

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Trump’s Gotten to Cutting

United States’ governments at all levels have for decades been at war with America and Americans.

Their weapons of choice – have been a ceaseless fusillade of laws and regulations. Aimed not to benefit We the People – but directly at us. We have been carpet-bombed with red tape – to ensnare and shackle and limit us.

The damage to our economy has been devastating. Our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth has waned inexorably for decades. Because as government grows – the private sector shrinks.

Our entire economy – the amount of money created by every single man, woman and child in America’s 300+ million populace – is $18 trillion. The cost of compliance with JUST federal regulations – is $2 trillion. Think that massive government imposition on our economy helps – or hurts?

And no President in our history was more active in using government against us – than President Barack Obama. Obama ramped up government regulatory extrusions to levels never before seen. Obama added more than 21,000 new regulations – all by his onesies.

Obama directly targeted for destruction certain sectors of Americans. For instance, he promised to bankrupt the coal industry – then he had his government just about do it.

Obama Administration regulations killed more than 125,000 coal sector jobs. And cost our economy more than $650 billion directly – and exponentially more indirectly, as energy prices soared as the coal sector crumbled. More

Net Neutrality: The Big Power Grab Lie the Left-Media Is Telling You

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Left-Media Never Goes Small

We addressed this to some degree last week. But the Left-Media’s lying has been demonstrably worse in the week since – a feat I didn’t then fathom as possible.

The issue at hand is Network Neutrality.

When birthed in 2002 by Leftist college professor Tim Wu, Net Neutrality was just four innocuous things:

  • Consumers are entitled to access the lawful Internet content of their choice.
  • Consumers are entitled to run applications and services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement.
  • Consumers are entitled to connect their choice of legal devices that do not harm the network.
  • Consumers are entitled to competition among network providers, application and service providers, and content providers.

But as with oh-so-many things devised by the Left, Net Neutrality sounds good – but isn’t. It is, in fact, a terrible idea – for a whole host of reasons. More

There Already Is Massive Media Consolidation: Ideological

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Ideological – Not Numerical

The Left is incessantly freaking about all sorts of things – about which very little freaking is actually necessary.

The Media is – by-and-large – the Left’s megaphone. About whatever the Left is freaking – you’ll find the Media freaking. Only louder, with many, MANY more outlets with which to amplify the freaking.

The advent of the Internet – has exponentially increased the number of outlets through which the Media can freak. For instance: If you miss a particular MSNBC on-air freakout – fear not, on the Web it shall hang forever, just a couple of mouse clicks away.

And nigh every outlet generates all sorts of Web-only content – video, audio and written. For even more additional avenues for freaking.

Each and every media outlet – is a multi-platform content delivery corporation. More

PTAB: DCs Latest Unaccountable, Power Grabbing Government Board

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Because It Is Apparent DC
Doesn’t Care About This Definition

Government is always looking to expand its ability to lord over the private sector.

Congress has done far more than its part – passing all sorts of laws that have very little to do with the Constitution and its extraordinarily limited role for the federal government.

But Congress doing all that overreaching itself – eventually brought some angered scrutiny from We the People. Congress doesn’t care what we think, mind you – they just don’t want to hear it from us.

So about a century ago government began erecting myriad, unelected Executive Branch departments, agencies, commissions and boards. To unilaterally add those very many busy hands to the power grabbing government was doing.

But that too drew angered scrutiny from We the People. Because even though these very many departments, agencies commissions and boards aren’t elected – the President who oversees them is. And if it’s possible, the President likes hearing it from us even less than does Congress. More

Government ‘Business’ Endeavors Are Always Awful

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

On the Cutting Edge –
And It’s Us They’re Cutting

The old saw is “Those who can do – those who can teach.”

Meaning if you’re good at something – you do that something. And if you aren’t good at anything – you teach.

Which helps explain our ridiculously awful government primary and secondary schools – and our ridiculously awful colleges and universities.

We need a government permutation: “Those who can do – those who can’t regulate those who can.”

Meaning if you’re good at private sector things – you do private sector things. And if you aren’t good at private sector things – you go into government.

(And since government runs most primary and secondary schools – and funds many colleges and universities – the crossover nature of our two axioms is quite obvious.) More

There Are Some Things the Federal Government is Actually Supposed to Do

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

From the Constitution –
In Case You’re From a Government and Weren’t Sure

Governments throughout the nation produce tens of millions of pages of paper a year. They are parchment Pez dispensers. That sound you constantly hear is millions of trees crying out in terror – and then being suddenly silenced.

Way too many of these pages – are these governments mandating and/or banning things. Way too often, the federal government is mandating and banning things the states are supposed to be mandating or banning – and vice versa.

I kid – there is WAY too much mandating and banning going on. But what is serious – is the proper delineation of the various governments’ roles.

One piece of paper that gets way too little attention from governments everywhere – is the Constitution. Our Founding Fathers laid out a specific, delineated and delimited role for the federal government. Then: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” More

Senator Toomey on Steel – Was Trump Before Trump. Why Not for Other Industries?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Want Some Candy?

Pennsylvania Republican Senator Pat Toomey is an America First bull when it comes to protecting from ridiculous international actors and actions the United States steel industry. And has been for decades.

And no wonder. Steel is a bit of a thing in Pennsylvania. There’s even an NFL team named after the industry’s employees. And lots of his constituents do indeed work in the industry.

But many, many more used to do so. Ridiculous international actors and actions have undercut Toomey’s state’s steel – so Toomey has long gone to bat for it and them. And God bless him – he was and is exactly right to do so.

Because if other steel-producing nations are blocking our steel, subsidizing theirs and flooding our market – that trade has absolutely nothing to do with actual free trade.

Why, then, isn’t Toomey capable of seeing the exact same international inanities doing damage to other U.S. industries? More

Obama’s Anti-American, Anti-IP Global Avalanche Is Finally Opposed…Elsewhere

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Sadly, Obama Also Exported This

The Barack Obama Administration was seriously anti-American. I do not say this lightly.

Evidence is coming to light all over the world that the Administration routinely, actively worked against American interests – seemingly everywhere any American was interested.

We last week chronicled how Todd Robinson – the Administration’s Ambassador to Guatemala – worked with Guatemalan environmentalist radical groups to coach them to sue an American company that had invested $1 billion in a Guatemalan silver mine.

The Administration’s Ambassador then pressured the Guatemalan government to appoint radical Left judges – who then presided over the cases the Administration’s Ambassador had coached the local environmental radical groups to file.

Not exactly an America First approach, is it?

Some of the Administration’s anti-American foreign work – began at home. And in our next particular instance – very late in the Administration game: More
