It’s Time to End the Swamp’s Bad Government Contracting

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Also Should Be Targeted
for Swamp Drainage

We’ll say it again – because it remains empirically true, and vitally important going forward.

The biggest mistake Donald Trump has made and continues to make – is allowing so many Barack Obama and other assorted Swamp Creature holdovers to remain in Washington, D.C.

It’s tough to Drain the Swamp – with so many remainder Creatures plugging the holes you’re drilling to do so.

We wrote last week praising Trump and Congress for undoing an awful new massive private-sector-assault regulatory scheme. But it was a new massive private-sector-assault regulatory scheme – that was imposed by the Trump Administration. By an agency overseen by an Obama holdover – that bizarrely still has the job under Trump.

As we all know – and as this example yet again demonstrates – personnel is policy. The Trump Administration is the most deregulatory administration in decades and decades. More

Steyer-Money Environmentalists Confuse Vancouvers

Ummm…Wrong Country

When Leftists REALLY want to “make a difference” – but they’re confused as to where they wish to do so.

Leftists are…a bit challenged when it comes to facts and details. Which makes their extreme passion about their ideology – and insistently imposing it upon all of us – at once amusing…and dangerous.

One of the Leftists’ MANY shortcomings – is geography. Far too frequently, they simply do not know where there are. Or they aren’t where they think they are. Or they don’t know where they are supposed to be. To wit:

Oops: Chicago Occupiers Try to Protest Rush Limbaugh’s ‘Office’…but Get City Wrong:

“A crowd of Occupy (Wall Street) protesters in Chicago (Illinois) descended on Rush Limbaugh’s ‘office’ Thursday to air their grievances about the conservative radio host.

“The problem? Despite their references to ‘Rush’s office building’ and ‘Rush Limbaugh’s studio,’ they weren’t in the right place – not by more than 1,000 miles.”

Limbaugh broadcasts…out of south Florida.

Also, Leftists apparently don’t understand the concept of radio syndication. More

Yet Another Local Battle in the Media-Left’s War on Oil

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

There Is No IQ Test for Entry into the Left – Else There Would Be No Left

Because the federal government has so grossly exceeded its Constitution-delimited authorities, we pay way more attention to national politics than the Founding Fathers intended or wanted.

They wanted the vast majority of governing to be done at the local level. Because it is the government most directly connected – and thereby accountable – to We the People. The Feds were supposed to defend our nation, its borders and…that’s about it.

But these massive role-usurpations aside – even when a political-policy dispute is national, much of its on-the-ground implication and implementation…is local. As with real wars, political wars’ over-arching decisions are made in far off capitals – but their battles are fought right in our backyards.

And so it is with the Media-Left’s ongoing War on Oil. They do not like petroleum for a whole host of reasons. They don’t like capitalism: Oil is its fuel. They don’t like individualism and independence: Oil powers one of individualism’s greatest emblems – the automobile. Which allows people, one-by-one, to escape the awfulness that is government mass transportation. They don’t like oil’s private sector independence from government – because unlike fake energies like wind and solar, no government money is necessary for oil to continue to survive and thrive. More

We Need to Undo Obama’s ‘America Last’ State Department Inanity

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Let’s End Anti-American American Foreign Policy, Shall We?

The Barack Obama Administration was throughout its tenure thoroughly and completely America Last. Not only were our national interests at home and abroad not advanced – they were often actively subjugated.

This absolutely pertained to our nation’s businesses – and their investments and operations overseas.

To wit: The Administration didn’t like intellectual property – so it drafted and filed the blueprint lawsuit other nations subsequently used to globally undermine (and wrongfully rob of hundreds of billions of dollars) American innovation company Qualcomm.

Well, we are now very thankfully no longer subjected to the Obama Administration. And instead, we are enjoying the very America First Donald Trump Administration. Which is working very diligently to undo so much of Obama’s America Last inanity.

We humbly submit another undoing for the Administration’s consideration: To what the U.S. company Tahoe Resources is being subjected in Guatemala regarding its Escobal silver mining operation. More

It Would Be Nice if the Media Checked at Least a Little into its Leftist Sources

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Usual Suspects

Our “news media” – a term I use as loosely as is possible – never finds it beneath them to use as “sources” whatever Leftist hacks they can find. Nothing matters – so long as their “sources” help to further their efforts to slag non-Leftists.

They care not at all how frequently, how much or how deeply these “sources” have lied. Or how deeply corrupt or conflicted they are. If they speak ill of non-Leftists – their word is reportable gold.

To wit: We’re now receiving much additional information about the patently absurd “Donald Trump-Russia Dossier.” A collection of nonsense that alleged a years-long collusion conspiracy between Trump and Russia.

Which magically found its way to ridiculous BuzzFeed’s electronic pages – not to mention anti-Trump Arizona “Republican” Senator John McCain and the Barack Obama Administration’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). More

DC Cronyism, Subsidized Stadiums and Private Planes – and the National Anthem

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Looks Just Like Commercial Coach, N’Est-Ce Pas?

Cronyism is a coin of the realm in Washington, D.C.

Money is of course Capitol currency – DC spends $4 trillion of ours a year.

Regulation also carries DC clout – the city regulates us to the tune of $2 trillion in compliance cost per annum.

That’s $6 trillion worth of DC power. Which gets DC’s denizens – a metric ton of campaign cash. And that campaign cash – pays for lots and LOTS of cronyism.

Cronyism gets the government to tax and regulate your business’ competitors – and/or exempt yours. The ultimate form of phony favoritism. More

Less Government in Air Traffic Control, Please

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

It’s Way Past Time
to Buzz the Government Tower

Perhaps the most we’ve ever collectively thought of the nation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) – was in 1981, when newly minted President Ronald Reagan had to deal with an ATC union strike.

The ATC was demanding seventeen times more than the amount of money and benefits – than was in the deal to which they had just agreed. (A deal that was itself double the average government employee raise).

Reagan’s response…wasn’t mitigated. He fired every striking ATC employee.

Flash forward to now – and it is inordinately difficult to say the government-run ATC is worth the huge coin. It is what every government-run entity is – grossly wasteful and inefficient. Any steps towards less government…would be most welcome. More

Key Component of Actually Free Trade: Punishing Bad Actors

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Finally – We’re Using Both

We have long roundly ridiculed what has passed for “free trade” in Washington, D.C.

Where we remove nigh all of our government impediments to the goods and services of every other nation on the planet. And nigh no other country returns the favor. Nations the world over impose all sorts of tariffs and regulatory impediments upon anything we wish to export to them.

About which we have done absolutely nothing. For decades.

It’s the same story – over and over and over again. We get beaten and abused throughout the duration of an existing trade deal. About which we do…nothing. And then we sit down to negotiate the next trade deal – acting as if the beatings and abuse haven’t been happening. And we blithely cut another, idiotically similar new trade deal – that allows the beatings and abuse to continue unabated.

Lather, rinse, repeat. For decades. More

America First – Also Means Acting When Our Businesses Get Screwed Overseas

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

In This Instance – Americas First

Before he was Politician Donald Trump – he was Businessman-TV Star Donald Trump. All along the way (check out this “Oprah” hit from all the way back in 1988), Trump championed a Reality-based approach to actually free, fair trade. On which he eventually campaigned – as he ran for his new entry-level political position.

Trump’s trade approach – was antithetical to the way Washington, D.C. had long been doing trade. The DC warped definition of “free trade” was:

We would accommodate every other nation on the planet – by removing our government impediments to their goods and services coming here. Meanwhile, we’d do next to nothing to get their governments to return the favor.

Trump thought this was dumb. In no small part – because it’s dumb.

Trump proposed the weird notion that America’s government should first and foremost look out for – American companies and its people. More

Senator McCain is a Crony’s Best Friend

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

McCain’s Anti-Cronyism Is…Blurry

For a guy who has allegedly spent his political career trying to make and do right – after his being named in the late 1980s Keating Five scandal – Arizona Republican Senator John McCain certainly still likes to do a whole lot for high-donating cronies.

A Keating Five refresher:

“The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators – Alan Cranston (Democrat of California), Dennis DeConcini (Democrat of Arizona), John Glenn (Democrat of Ohio), John McCain (Republican of Arizona), and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (Democrat of Michigan) – were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., Chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB).”

Sounds an awful lot like cronyism to me – old school, vintage edition.

McCain’s being named made him hyper-sensitive to the charge – and hyper-and-over-re-active trying to play catch up. More
