Oh Look – Trump Is Right on Trade

Now-President Donald Trump has for decades been decrying the very bad international deals – trade and otherwise – that the United States has for decades been cutting. He ran for and won the Presidency – in no small part because of his infusion of this reality into the reality-free world of DC politics and policy.

In 1987 – undoubtedly as a part of his public relations campaign to promote his then-new book “The Art of the Deal” – Trump placed $100,000 advertisements in The New York Times and other newspapers decrying the bad global agreements of all sorts to which we were subjecting ourselves.

In 1988, Trump was asked about it on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” He in part responded:

Wednesday brings us yet another ridiculous Left protest against President Donald Trump and his reasonable, rational, less government agenda.

This tiny, goofy gaggle has dubbed this particular bit of inanity a “Day of Action.” (Though given the huge government, debilitating policies they promote – “Day of Traction” is far more accurate.)

As we chronicled last week, this particular Day of Nonsense is the organizational effort of radical, terrorist-loving, self-described “queer activist singer/songwriter, organizer, parent, speaker, and workshop facilitator” Evan Greer.

Why any company or media outlet would want to be in any way a proponent of this anti-American man and his radical plan – is light years beyond us.

Pleasant Company They’re Keeping

One of the very many things that has been hammered home in the President Donald Trump era – is that if the media wants to make a non-story a story, they certainly can. At least for them and theirs.

No matter how ridiculous and fact-free the tale. It can be patently obvious that the “A” they are selling is actually “Not A” – but that matters not. The media floods the zone with it, and that’s all we get.

Trump-Russia collusion, anyone? We’re now a year in to the Media-Democrat complex screeching incessantly about Trump collaborating with Vladimir Putin’s Russia to steal November’s election.

CNN is absolutely obsessed. More than half of all MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s segments between February 20 and March 31 – were directly about it (and that count excludes stories that mentioned it, but weren’t directly on it). It is just about all you can get from anyone in the legacy Jurassic Press.

A Long, Storied Tradition

The Washington Post is a legacy, old school fake news outlet. Aside from the New York Times, no newspaper carries more national clout.

Largely because of how much they forty-plus years ago made of a third-rate burglary by a Republican presidential campaign on its way to winning forty-nine states. (Had Republicans not broken into the Democrats’ Watergate headquarters, they’d have won, what…forty-three states?)

There were about a half dozen Barack Obama Administration scandals that were each exponentially worse than Watergate – about which the Washington Post couldn’t have cared less. Worse, the Post provided all sorts of cover-up “coverage” of these monstrosities – routinely, incessantly defending the indefensible.

Remember the Barack Obama Administration’s Internal Revenue Service (IRS) scandal? The media really wish you wouldn’t, which is why they never really reported on it while it occurred. And, in many ways, the IRS scandal continued well past its initial exposition date.

The Left’s Stamp of ‘Approval’

The Left doesn’t like acquiescing to the will of We the People. They like – to degree that they can pull it off – to PRETEND to acquiesce to the will of We the People.

The Left’s agenda has never really resonated with us. So they’ve looked for as many ways as possible to circumvent us – and our Constitutional process of self-governance.

Here’s how things are supposed to work in Washington, D.C.:

The officials we elect to the Legislative Branch – legislate. They draft and pass laws. On which We the People can exert influence – via our First Amendment right “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The President (whom we also elect) then signs the laws – and then his/her Executive Branch executes them. The Judicial Branch – our court system – adjudicates legal disputes between parties.

Via this process did the Founding Fathers render it quite difficult to grow government. Which has always irked the Left – so the Left started end-running this process. More

We less government types want less government – for no shortage of reasons. To name but a few:

In no small part because government is awful at everything it does – so you want it doing as little as possible.

And the more government does – the more susceptible it is to being bribed into applying its might in the service of outside cronies. Favoring them – and hounding their competitors.

How Is It That the Weakest Trade Member of This Trio – Is Us?

President Donald Trump became President Donald Trump in no small part because he ran against the very bad deals of all sorts that America has spent the last several decades cutting. He did, after all, write “The Art of the Deal.”

Trump ran on “America First” – promising to rectify the decades of “America Last” deals Washington, D.C. has delivered.

And even if DC did manage to along the way cut an occasional decent deal – it isn’t any good if all parties don’t hold up their respective ends of the bargain. And, of course, that lack of full-on participation makes bad deals – even worse.

Trump the Businessman certainly understood the import of deal enforcement. Trump the President should follow his own lead.

In some instances, Trump already is. He just returned from his first international excursion – during which he admonished the very many North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) members who have for decades been shorting us on their defense budget dues.

Regardless of your thoughts on NATO and our continued participation therein – it absolutely doesn’t make any sense if we’re just about the only ones adhering to it. There are 27 NATO countries – only four meet their defense budget treaty obligations. And most of them haven’t – for years, and years and years. More
