It Would Be Nice if the Media Checked at Least a Little into its Leftist Sources

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

The Usual Suspects

Our “news media” – a term I use as loosely as is possible – never finds it beneath them to use as “sources” whatever Leftist hacks they can find. Nothing matters – so long as their “sources” help to further their efforts to slag non-Leftists.

They care not at all how frequently, how much or how deeply these “sources” have lied. Or how deeply corrupt or conflicted they are. If they speak ill of non-Leftists – their word is reportable gold.

To wit: We’re now receiving much additional information about the patently absurd “Donald Trump-Russia Dossier.” A collection of nonsense that alleged a years-long collusion conspiracy between Trump and Russia.

Which magically found its way to ridiculous BuzzFeed’s electronic pages – not to mention anti-Trump Arizona “Republican” Senator John McCain and the Barack Obama Administration’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). More

The Swamp Strikes Back: Some of Trump’s White House Guests Are Not His Friends

Musk’s Companies – Your Coin

“They that sow the wind – shall reap the whirlwind.”  From the Hebrew Bible’s Book of Hosea, it means that if you choose to do X, expect to get X – good and hard.

Now-President Donald Trump ran for the gig promising to “Drain the Swamp.”  Which was him sowing what he would do should he win – clean up the fetid and festering sewer that is Washington, D.C.  We the People – liked the idea.  And elected the political novice to do exactly that.

We less-government-minded political observers knew the whirlwind to be reaped.  DC is a $4-trillion-a-year cronyism-infested nightmare cesspool – an insult to swamps everywhere.  Institutional, Establishment DC would not take attempts at its decontamination lying down. More

The Elon Musk Myth Looks to Contaminate Texas

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Texans Should Tell Musk to Stand Down and Go Away

The Myth of Elon Musk is that of daring entrepreneur.  An avant garde, cutting edge businessman who sees a little bit further around the curve of the Earth – to get a glimpse of the Next Big Thing before the rest of us are able see it.

The Reality of Elon Musk is that of enormous government money welfare hog.  Perhaps the single largest crony capitalist of all to dig in to Washington, D.C.’s $4-trillion-per-year trough (not to mention his multiple-state-level favoritisms).  By far his greatest success – is his copious extraction of government money and favors.

Government has thus far cut checks to Musk to the tune of $5 billion.  This isn’t Musk original thinking – it is decades-old, tried-and-true welfarism.  Musk shouldn’t be lauded and applauded – he should be ridiculed and dismissed.

One of Musk’s fake companies getting billions in real government money is Tesla Motors.  Tesla produces massively-subsidized electric cars which – even with the federal coin – cost way too much and aren’t purchased by anyone outside of uber-wealthy preening elites:

“(Tesla’s) first model, the Roadster, costing over $100,000 per vehicle, sold only 2,400 actual cars in 31 countries from 2006 until production ended in 2012, despite extensive federal subsidies for electric car purchases.  Its new model, a full-size luxury sedan named the Model S, is doing better, costing about half as much as the Roadster. Tesla sold about 25,000 of these worldwide in 2013….The products are heavily subsidized, by both federal and state tax credits of up to $20,000+ to consumers, and zero emissions credits totaling tens of millions of dollars to the company.”

So much government coin – for so little in sales.  And now the Musk contagion is looking to infest Texas.  Musk wants to insert his Tesla Faux-Motors into the Lone Star State’s retail dealership market.  And is demanding even more cronyism to do it. More

Business ‘Savant’ Andrew Ross Sorkin Gets Elon Musk Very, Very Wrong

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

At This Point, the Government Might as Well Just Let Musk Print it Himself

We warned that this was happening.

In case you don’t already know – this is Andrew Ross Sorkin: “Andrew Ross Sorkin is a columnist for The New York Times and the founder and editor-at-large of DealBook, an online daily financial report published by The Times that he started in 2001. In addition, Mr. Sorkin is an assistant editor of business and finance news, helping guide and shape the paper’s coverage.  Mr. Sorkin is also a co-anchor of Squawk Box, CNBC’s signature morning program.”

So Sorkin is considered a financial guru – a savant of all things business.  So how is he so very, very wrong about government teat specialist Elon Musk?: “Donald Trump: Please think about calling Elon Musk….Mr. Musk…(is) the real-life Tony Stark behind Tesla, the electric car company; SolarCity, the solar power provider; and SpaceX, the rocket company….”

Actually, Elon Musk isn’t the Tony Stark of anything.  And the only person behind Tesla and Solar City is a government bureaucrat – writing Musk yet another government check.

So far, Musk has received FIVE BILLION DOLLARS in government money – mostly for his “green energy” business fallacies.  He is arguably the world’s largest welfare recipient. More

‘Drain the Swamp’: Why Are Some Republicans Still Looking to Further Fill It?

Seton Motley | Less Government | LessGovernment.org

Drain Them Too

President-elect Donald Trump turns a very memorable phrase. His “Make America Great Again” helped launch his improbable run. “Build the Wall” became an early signature chant by his routinely massive rally crowds – predicated upon Trump’s promise to do exactly that between the United States and Mexico.

And perhaps nothing did more down the home stretch to deliver Trump to the White House than his promise to “Drain the Swamp.”

Washington, D.C. is a $4-trillion-a-year cronyism-infested cesspool. Where elites operate on our money – but by their own rules. And with that the American people have had it. And Trump’s “Drain the Swamp” was a catchy pledge to address it.

These statements and sentiments helped deliver Trump an unprecedented, historic victory. And his electoral coattails saved several down-ballot Republicans from what appeared to be certain defeat. More

Good Work Dodge

Of course, Bobby Heenan said “If you’re poor and you do something stupid, you’re nuts. If you’re rich and do something stupid, you’re eccentric.” The fine line between stupid and genius – is often a fat bank account.

But what if the fat bank account – isn’t your coin? Or a dramatically huge amount of it isn’t your coin?
