The Death of Bipartisanship: For the Democrat-Left, Too Much Government Is Never Enough

Do These People Look Bipartisan to You?

President Donald Trump just released a colossally bloated, ridiculously huge $4.7 trillion budget.

Democrats and the Left – please pardon the redundancy – reacted as if it were a $1.7 trillion budget.

‘Dead on Arrival’: Democrats Dismiss Trump Budget Plan

No matter how much government there is – the Democrat-Left remain a far-less-polite Oliver Twist.  They always want more.  In fact – they demand it.

And even as they are gaining government ground – they are plotting to grab the next government ground.

To wit: Obamacare.  Jonathan Gruber was the awful bill’s author.  And plotted Obamacare’s massive power grab – as simply setting the table for the next.  For single-payer, government-only government medicine.  We’re not speculating – he repeatedly said so.

To wit: The ongoing, everlasting, Walking Dead shambling wreck policy battle that is Network Neutrality.

Net Neutrality even in its original form – is completely pointless regulation.  Pointless because none of the things this Net Neutrality imposition would stop – ever occurred.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have always just done – what the original Net Neutrality would mandate they do:

1) Allow users unfettered access to the lawful Internet content of their choice.

2) Allow users to run applications and services of their choice, subject to the needs of law enforcement.

3) Allow users to connect their choice of legal devices that do not harm the network.

4) Afford users competition among network providers, application and service providers, and content providers.

Again: ISPs have never blocked lawful content.  They have never prohibited apps or services.  They have always allowed connection to lawful devices.  They have always allowed all sorts of competition amongst providers of all sorts.

These four Net Neutrality tenets – have been de facto enforced in perpetuity…by the free market.  These four Net Neutrality tenets – were never, ever actually imposed and/or enforced by government.  These four Net Neutrality tenets – are thus utterly pointless as government law or regulation.

Undaunted by Reality, the Democrat-Left thinks no matter how much government there is – more is always better.  As radical Left group Free Press cofounder Robert McChesney proudly proclaimed:

“At the moment, the battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies. We are not at that point yet. But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.”

How very Venezuela of them.

That old school, bipartisan, four-rule Net Neutrality – was for the Democrat-Left dead upon its arrival.  They were already looking towards making the next government grab.

The “Progressives” – are yet again regressing us.  All the way back to single-payer, government-only Internet access.  Constricted there by imposing 1934 monopoly landline telephone law upon the Internet.

Which is exactly what the Barack Obama Administration in 2015 unilaterally did.

Which the Donald Trump Administration in 2017 rightly, reasonably undid.

Net Neutrality – like Obamacare – is, and always has been, a Trojan Horse.  In which complete government control is secreted.

How do we know this – besides all the other ways we know this?

Republicans are currently offering three different bills that would codify in law the completely unnecessary, once-bipartisan four tenets of the original Net Neutrality.

Here is the GOP – willing to compromise.  Because they recognize we exist in a divided DC – with Democrats controlling the House, Republicans the Senate and the White House.

Here is the GOP – willing if not eager to find some middle ground.

Between the Reality of the no-government-necessary, free speech-free market Xanadu Internet we all currently relish.

And the Democrat-Left’s demand for single-payer, government-only, Venezuela-style Internet.

Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.), Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio), and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) even wrote a very nice letter – asking their Democrat colleagues to consider the bipartisan approach.

The Left – is vociferously opposed to the bipartisan approach.

The aforementioned Free Press:

Stop These Fake Net Neutrality Bills in their Tracks

And very many, very crazy others:

Public Knowledge Opposes Net Neutrality Bills Weakening FCC’s Authority to Protect Consumers

Internet Users Won’t Be Fooled by Fake Net Neutrality Legislation Pushed by Telecom Shills in Congress

Remember – these are very real, recently-bipartisan Net Neutrality bills.

What they aren’t – is a full-on, 1934-landline-telephone-law government power grab.

You know what is a full-on, 1934-landline-telephone-law government power grab?

The Democrats’ fake Net Neutrality, real government power grab bill.

Democrats’ Net Neutrality Bill Would Fully Restore Obama-Era FCC Rules

Which is a complete and total waste of time.

Because this is a divided DC – with Democrats controlling the House, Republicans the Senate and the White House.

There is literally no way the Democrats’ government power grab bill – will ever become law in this Congress, with this President.

But the Democrat-Left doesn’t want bipartisanship.  They don’t want compromise.

They don’t want a little unnecessary government.

They want a whole lot of of unnecessary government.

Because for Democrats and the Left, too much government – is never enough.
